when ebb expires stuck with a plan?

I'm considering signing up for EBB, but I'm reading that I have to stick with that plan I'm signing on for even after EBB expires. Is that true? So my current non EBB plan is $30/month, the cheapest EBB plan has got a regular price of $40. EBB is probably going to expire after a few months. Am I then stuck with a more expensive plan or can I change to my previous plan?

We can provide more details about the AT&T/EBB program @youssou!

The eligible plans that are required for the EBB program are:

  • $75 Unlimited Plus Monthly Plan
  • $65 Unlimited Monthly Plan
  • $55 100GB Data Only Monthly Plan
  • $40 Monthly Plan

Currently there is no ETA of when the temporary program expires, but you can switch/change to a different prepaid plan after the EBB benefits are no longer available.

If you have additional questions about the benefits program, you can contact our EBB Customer Support at: 866.986.0963 which are available M-F 8am to 10pm ET/Saturday 8am to 5pm ET.

We hope this information helps, and thanks for reaching out to us!

Not true.  You can always change plans.

Even if you were signing up for internet, you can always change plans.

Where did you hear that wrong information?

The info is as follows:

The federal government Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program will conclude upon the earlier of six months after the end of COVID-19 emergency period or when the fund is exhausted. AT&T PREPAID may end its participation in the program at any time. You will be notified by email and/or text message at least 30 days prior to the program benefit ending. When the EBB program ends, customers are subject to regular rates, terms, and conditions for wireless service from AT&T.
_________________________________________________________________________
I think the confusion is that the customer will pay the regular rates once the program ends unless they change their plan.

Thanks to anyone who took the time to answer! Yes, was indeed confused by this statement:

"Once the program ends, you agree to continue receiving service on the plan you have selected at that point in time (including if you switch to another eligible plan during the program). You will be charged the standard monthly rate for that plan (without the program benefit) plus taxes and fees, adjusted for any applicable discounts, and subject to AT&T’s general terms and conditions."

But you all cleared things up for me. I'm going to sign up, now!

Thanks, for all the help! Have a great day!!

Yes you can change your EBB at anytime went with the  EBB internet 100 which is free for the 1st year...

** Dont want to give at&t any money, even signed up for a "Paper Bill" so they have to pay for a stamp" (Edited per community guidelines)

BUT !!!! the plan doesnt go into effect right away, takes a few days for the plan change paperwork to get mailed from the Outsourced Customer Service Center in Mumbai to Lubbock TX  (Edited per community guidelines)

About the EBB program ending :

from

"mportant EBB disclosures

6. You will be notified by email, text message and/or direct mail prior to the program benefit ending. That notice will include a Customer Service Summary detailing the plan you are on at that time, including the monthly rate for service and any applicable fees for equipment and an estimate of taxes and fees you should expect to pay when the program ends."

Now expect at&t to say that the email probably got lost in your spam file to get an extra full month charge out of you, if thats the case, submit a complaint with the FTC and the BBB and especially the Office of the President is of no help at&t is very MONEY HUNGRY of late

From the FCC WEBSITE

The EBB Program will conclude when the fund is expended or six months after the end of the public health emergency. The Commission adopted the rules and policies creating and governing the EBB Program on February 25, 2021.

@macmanjim That's interesting because it has been 14 days now since I submitted my application and nothing has happened. If I look at my online account, I still seem to be on my old plan. I can see on my bank statement that they charged me for my old plan, yesterday.

I thought ATT is going to be reimbursed by the EBB funding and have no losses, because they advertised it to me on my online account.

In any case, I'm going to file a complaint as you suggested.

Thanks, for that. I did not think I'd run into complications like that.
