Phone Trade Scam

My husband traded in his iPhone 11pro for a 15 pro max with AT&T back in November 2023. He was supposed to get an $800 credit. We finally received the credit on our February bill( he was told it was going g to take a few billing cycles). However our March bill was higher than expected and when my husband called to find out he was told the AT&T decided after the fact that his trade in wax only worth $300 so the adjusted our bill to compensate the difference. When he asked why initially he was told he didn’t ship  back soon enough, but when he could prove that he shipped back promptly the story changed and then they tried to say it was because the trade in arrived damaged. He packed properly and in extra bubble wrap. The stories keep changing. AT&T is trying to steal $500 dollars from us after the fact with no proof the phone was damaged and no communication regarding changing their mind on the trade in value. After 90 mins on the phone the manager rudely said the best she could do was a store credit and that it were her to take the credit because it was all we were going to get. No I want my money back, store credit just means AT&T keeping my money. Don’t trade in with AT&T, what crooks. Looks like a bunch of other people are having similar issues with not getting their money for trade ins.

Since AT&T doesn't get the phones They go to a third party recycler called Assurant Mobile in lavergne Tennessee.  If Assurant says it's not qualified for $800 at&t only know what Assurant tells them.

ATT guessing possible reasons for the change in value makes perfect sense.  They only know there's better reduction in what you expected, they don't know why because they never saw your phone.

If the phone had been shipped late, it would not have been worth $350 because it would have been worth book value only. So that one is not possible.

If it arrived damaged, that would reduce the value.  Or if it only ever qualified for 350 in the first place.

Since an iPhone 11 pro was one generation too old to get full credit against an iPhone 15 pro, that may be the reason.  (An iPhone 12 pro would have qualified for full discount)

I don't suppose you saved a copy of the promotion for the date you purchased the iPhone 15?
