Daughters new phone deactivated son's number

My daughter got a new phone (iPhone 14) that used my son's phone's (iphone 13) upgrade eligibility. As a result, when her phone was activated, it deactivated my son's. Now it looks like we have two of the same phone with different numbers, only his number isn't active on his phone. How can I fix this and get his phone back to the the 13 on my account and get it so it's active on his phone again. He currently has no cellular and when we try to download a new esim, it fails.

You can use apples quick transfer to move your son's number back onto his phone. (On the ESIM)

(Scroll down to quick transfer directions)

I assume your daughter has an older iPhone? Whether it has a physical sim or an E-Sim you can then use quick transfer to move her SIM and phone number from her old iPhone onto the new iPhone 14 on eSIM.

If you got a deal on the iPhone 14, upgrading at a reduced price because you have an unlimited data plan,  Activating the phone on the available line was the correct way of doing this, even though it's created some inconvenience afterwards.

@formerlyknownas thank you! I was able to get her number on her phone using that method so all good there! I was able to realign my son's phone and get his number active again with some help from an amazing AT&T rep via chat. Everyone is all set now. Thanks for the help.
