My hotspot imei not recognized

Att cancelled my hotspot contract, and said I could do as i please with the hotspot. They also said ATT  hotspots are unlocked, this is false. I put a different sim in and see a message saying 'device is locked'. I went to the ATT device unlock site and get an error message that reads it is not recognized. Please advise.

Greetings @Jacklisk,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention! Utilizing a mobile hotspot is very beneficial and being able to unlock it makes it versatile. It is absolutely important for us to set the right expectations when it comes to the unlock process.  I would love to provide more insight on this matter!

At this time, Mobile Hotspot devices cannot be unlocked from AT&T Network. We would like to apologize for the misleading information you were provided.  I would be more than happy to forward this information to our device unlock team for future unlock for hotspot devices.

I hope you find this information helpful! Have an amazing rest of your day!

I have a serious problem...I just found out that my att Unite 3C58 770s hotspot has been blacklisted i bought my first hotspt on ebay..then the seller of sum card plan told me after a while of using the 1st router i needed to update it in order for it to work..so i paid the $80.00 for the new plan..the orginal was $60.00 discontinued..and that they would send me another hotspot and when i received it i would send mine thats paid for to them..so i hot the new one activated never say i was on contract are nothing just even trade so i thought until i stop buying a sim card using thete plan i just bought my on sim card from ebay and it was unlimited 55 dollars plan for most att device..I placed the sim card in at first it said home 4g then i changed the apn to HITECH TFDATA and then 5he 4g went away and it would not connect on the internet but it recognized my devices.So i called the seller of the sim and he took my imei no. and told me that no. on in my hotspot was an imei no. for galaxy 8 tablet..then i check the back of the hotspot it has a different no..i then went online and checked both imei no..the one in the back is clean..the one in my hotspot is blacklisted..what should i do about i have an active sim and blacklist hotspot with 2 imei no.I clean and the one for my account is not..i don't want to send my hotspot because the one i sent was paid for already.what shall i do on fixing this problem.

@Muttzi

The post is extremely difficult to read. I can't tell exactly what happened.  Clean it up.

AT&T does not offer an unlimited data plan for dedicated hotspot devices.

It may be that the device you are trying to use is locked to a different carrier. It may be that the device you are trying to use is incompatible with AT&T and therefore AT&T suspending service.

It is also possible you re trying to use a plan that is not allowed on a dedicated hotspot.  The only plan available with the largest amount of data for a dedicated hotspot device currently is the $55 100 Gig plan.  (not unlimited)

We'll be happy to guide you in the right direction regarding your hotspot device @Muttzi.

As @formerlyknownas has informed you, the plan you mentioned isn't intended for a dedicated hotspot. You can view our hotspot plans.

For the hotspot device itself, you can either reach out to the original party you purchased it from and they can reach out to us to have it removed from the blacklist or you can purchase a new device from us, either online or in store. As a rule, to ensure that you have a device that's compatible with our network, it's best to start your search with us.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please let us know and we'll be more than happy to provide further assistance. Thank you for reaching out to our community!
