ATT Spark Activation

Hello,

I purchased a Harman Spark to get WiFi in my car. With the unit, it says to visit att.com/activate When I visit this site and enter my ICCID and IMEI, it tells me I have to goto a store. With this whole Covid19 thing, can I not get it activated over the phone? Do I really need to visit a store?

Thanks for reaching out. In most cases, activation of the Spark is handled by the dealership or an AT&T Store. Is there a message as to why you need to go to a store? Do you have an account with AT&T besides the one needed for the Spark? Please let us know.

Thanks James... Yes, your website tells you that you must goto a store to activate the device after entering the IMEI and ICCID. However, I reached out to ATT and was advised that I could call an 800 number to activate the device.

After about 1 hr on the phone, I finally told the lady that I would drive to a store because she couldnt figure out how to activate the device. Once I arrived at the store, they said that I needed a new eSIM because the one that came with the device was not in their system. They ran a credit check and opened my account with a new eSim. They told me to wait a day and the device should activate.

Two days later, the device still isn't working. I reached out to Harman, and they advised me that ATT should have NOT assigned a new eSIM.

So I went BACK to the ATT store, and they removed the eSIM from the account, and then activated the eSIM that came with the device. After 1.5hrs at the store, the device is working.

My advise for others needing wifi in their car is to go with a company like Visible. You can get unlimited hotspot for $25 per month on Verizon. NO credit check either. The ATT method was very complicated, requires a credit check, costs $30 per month and requires a $30 activation fee.

I'm having the same problem with my harman spark. The store is no help, customer service is no help. I had to cancel my account with ATT.
