ATT Cingular Flip 4 Unknown Caller Triggering Software Update, Virus?

I recently answered a call from an unknown number with a local area code on my Cingular Flip 4 (KaiOS 2.5.3; Model U102AA). An automated message stated that ATT was going to update my phone, and the phone began to display a progress bar and characters in an Asian language. After the progress bar completed, the phone restarted and a brief message stated that the software update was complete. This seems like a very non-standard way to push an update, I'm assuming this is some kind of exploit. I currently have the phone set to airplane mode and am preparing to perform a factory reset.

Is this actually a way that ATT will push updates to a phone, and if this is an exploit of some kind, what is the possibility that a factory reset will not fix the issue? Thank you.
