Coverage in the Heber-Overgaard/Show Low/Pinetop-Lakeside area

I've been going up to this area for at least 13 years now and coverage has always been horrible here. It's slow and often unusable for anything but calls and texting, even though I'm on LTE. I know that AT&T partnered with Commnet to build out the network in the southwest and wanted to know whether this area will get native coverage or not. It's not a rural area either as there's 39000 people who live in Show Low with over 100000 coming in during holidays. Verizon has native coverage so I know that it can be done and AT&T has service in other places in the cell market so I know that they have licenses.

Hi @Person1425,

Thank you for bring this to our attention. We'd love to take a closer look into the network coverage in your area.

To better assist, we recommend you provide us the zip code of the area so we can check our towers in the area. In the meantime, please use our Mark the Spot tool to report the experience in your area.

We hope to hear from you soon.

I've used the Mark the Spot app many times before and even years later nothing gets done. This is a really big issue that could leave people in trouble

Greetings @Person1425,

Thank you for your feedback. We understand how frustrating this must be for you.

Please provide us your zip code so we can take a look at our towers in that area. In addition, let us know what specific device you are using.

We are standing by!

The zip code is 85929. I'm also using an unlocked Google Pixel 3a. I checked and it supports all the AT&T bands. I have also been trying to figure out if this issue would be fixed for years but have only been told to use Marks the Spot and that "We spent $400M dollars in Arizona over the past 3 years" and also "We're aware of the issue"

Thank you for verifying that ZIP code, @Person1425!

Our networks show that currently there is no coverage in that specific area. However, whenever a Wi-Fi connection is available and picked up by your device it's possible to stay connected via Wi-Fi Calling.

We consistently make changes so you get the best possible wireless service. These changes enhance coverage, increase data speeds, reduce dropped calls, and improve service quality.

Here are just a few things we're doing:

  • Increasing the number of new cell sites
  • Adding bigger pipes

Please be advised that even though AT&T is licensed to cover a particular area, there may be spots within that area that have little or no coverage. There are several reasons why coverage may not exist in a given area:

  • Zoning laws restricting towers
  • Issues where the surrounding terrain does not make a tower feasible
  • Not enough traffic in that area to support the cost of a tower

AT&T appreciates your business. Our goal is to provide high-quality service in as many areas as possible and we are working to enhance our network and improve your experience.

Hope this info helps.

I get it. Not to sound rude or anything but the land is very flat, there's quite a bit of traffic there, and other carriers also have pretty good coverage there. One thing that I've noticed is that you guys and T-Mobile lose native coverage at the top of the Mogollon Rim which is a weird coincidence
