Coverage in Show Low, AZ area

I wanted to know if the massive coverage issues in the Show Low/Pinetop-Lakeside, AZ area will ever get fixed. If you are outside of those 2 cities, you get EDGE coverage which iis literally unusable. If you’re in the city, you get LTE that is like 1 mbps. Will this issue ever get fixed or should I just go to a carrier that has LTE coverage there.

Hello, @Person1425,

Thank you for reaching out. You can directly report dropped calls and connectivity issues with the AT&T Mark the Spot app. The app can also keep you informed on known service issues and upcoming wireless infrastructure improvements.

Have a great week.

Still nothing 2 years later. Very poor service to your willing customers, AT&T! Bought a vehicle that can only use AT&T service to utilize the built in hotspot (you don’t get a credit for not being able to use the feature due to lack of service area when you purchase I might add) which you certainly pay for in the price of the vehicle… and yet can’t even use the feature because there is ZERO AT&T coverage in ShowLow / Pinetop-Lakeside! So frustrating! Get it together AT&T!

Change carriers until AT&T improves service in your area (if ever).

Buying a vehicle with a hotspot, I would caution researching the usage area before doing so to avoid situations like this. AT&T has no obligation to improve or expand coverage because of what vehicle you chose to get.

Same answer that should have been given 2 years ago to the OP. And posting to such an old thread you risk outdated information, such as the Mark the spot App was discontinued.

The point of commenting on such an old post is a) I obviously searched posts for my local area to see if others had spoken up before me (they had & it’s worth it to point out IMO). And b) to hopefully bring awareness to the CSR team that the lack of service is STILL an issue here (regardless of the type of service mentioned - an old app is irrelevant in this situation. There is NO type of AT&T service here).

Even the local Ford Dealership has complained - they were literally getting “dinged” for their number of customers complaining over the issue. AT&T sent a rep to the dealership who I understand could NOT comprehend why people couldn’t connect their vehicles. After being told repeatedly. The sales team had to physically pull up the area map and point it out to the rep who finally had a lightbulb moment after arguing over it for over an hour. 🤦‍♀️

PS: obviously people don’t buy a particular vehicle specifically for a hotspot. But if you’re going to be charged for something you can’t opt out of, it’d sure be nice to actually be able to use the feature. 🤷‍♀️ Especially when I live in a city… in a country club. Not like I’m expecting service in the super rural countryside. This is 2022. We have fantastic coverage with Verizon here. I don’t feel like that’s too much to ask. 🤷‍♀️

No service provider can have perfect coverage in all their areas, city or rural (country club makes no difference). If your area is supposed to have better coverage, then call support or check their outage map. Alternatively, a BBB complaint could be considered.

The "Mark the Spot" was relevant in that it was the immediate option for situations like this. But in the 2 years since this discussion had ended, the app had been shut down. So that clarification is hoped to prevent people looking for something that no longer exists. Even issue is similar, or believed to be the same, when it has been years it is usually suggested to start a fresh thread.

I wonder if the 3G (including 4G non-LTE) shutdown has any current or future effect on your coverage.

We just got back up here to Show Low and for the first time ever, I'm getting great coverage with my AT&T phone here in the White Mountain Vacation Village that sets right behind Harbor Freight.

I'm looking to move to Show Low, but my phone barely works there and that's a huge issue because switching is not something I can afford on top of the move as I'd have to pay off 2 new phones to switch.   Been a customer for 25 years, so I am stuck.

If you phone barely works then it depends if it is a phone or coverage issue. If coverage, then you will need to switch providers. Possibly doing a phone unlock if your existing phones are compatible with the other carrier. Perhaps look into trade-in options. Otherwise, you'll just have to stick it out with your service as is until you can afford new phones.
