The unlock codes I was garunteed by the 25th. It's the 26th. No codes

I had an unlocked IPhone 5s. Started it with a atnt go phone sim. I hate the iPhone. Had it for 2 weeks. Called to get if unlocked. I was garunteed the unlock codes on or before the 25th. I sold a gentleman the phone on the garuntee that I would have those codes by the 25th. It's now the 26th. I called atnt at the end of what I considered to b a business day. Around 5 pm. The gentleman that I spoke to just kept day saying the same unhelpful statement over and over. "You will receive your codes from our unlock team". Well I have not received them. It is now my understanding that atnt is required by law to give me those codes when I ask for them..... WHERE ARE MY CODES

iPhone do not have a code.  If you received an email approval, the phone is unlocked.  It need only be set up from scratch with a new SIM card to complete the process.

Hello @Nathanieluriah,

I understand you haven’t received your unlock codes and this has become a problematic concern for you.  I can go over some details which will help you out!

You mentioned you are unlocking an iPhone.  With iPhones, they actually do not need an unlock code.  They do have a different process in which it will be unlocked.  You first request an unlock code with us, which you have already done.  Once we approve the unlock request, the iPhone then has to be released from Apple’s systems.  If you had a certain request date, there is a chance it’s unlocked on our end and is waiting to be released from Apple's systems.

If you have the IMEI number and Unlock Code request number, you can visit here to check the status of it.  If it has not been approved or it shows no results for the status while the time frame has passed, you can still attempt to unlock it from Apple’s systems in the event the status did not update properly.  It generally has to be done by doing a backup and restore via iTunes.  You can follow this link for information on how to  unlock it from Apple’s systems.  You can see instructions as well under this article.

I’m glad to provide you with some further information.  Please feel free to contact us if you still need help!

U have got to be kidding me. U can shove any service u could possibly provide for me. I was garunteed that phone would be unlocked by the 26th. With detailed instructions on how to unlock that phone once I received the codes. I've since called and been informed that atnt would not allow me out of my 6 month service agreement I wasn't aware of until my 3rd or 4th call to your service centers. I've since sold that phone at a loss. In every ad I ran I explained in full the crappy deal that using your service locks you into. That was my device. I can't find any other pre pay service that lock a device that I OWN into your service. It's my own fault for not reading the small print but If I'm ever asked what service to use I will suggest anyone but yours

Hate to break it to you all carriers have this with prepaid.  Verizon is a year and tmobile is a year....  They all have some unlocking policy.

Its not like you dont notice this when you goto the unlock page for prepaid service

Then you didn't look very far.  Every carrier locks its prepaid phones, even Verizon.. for one year.

Straight talk doesnt. Boost doesnt. U can have Verizon. I don't want it. I would actually like to have you (att) train your employees in customer service and have consistent information given to your customers. I was GUARANTEED apparently non-existent unlock codes by the first person that I spoke to. Was given specific step by step directions on how to proceed once I obtained them. Once the guaranteed date had passed I called again. The " gentleman" I spoke to was absolutely inept in his job which is customer service. It may have had something to do with the language barrier but that's just a thought. "Wait for unlock team"  repeated over and over is in no way helpful. The man did not even pull up my account to attempt to help me. It wasn't until the fourth call back was I informed of the 6 month service agreement or that I didn't need any codes to unlock this particular type of phone. I also feel like your reply was a little bit rude and  condescending. If it makes you feel better to send emails from your computer to start disputes then have at it. I don't have it in me to be that person though. I handle mine in a different manner. I guess it's in the way your raised. You dont add to peoples problems with comments that only pount out another mistake. Havent u ever heard "If you dont have anything nice to say"?I should have read the small print of the service agreement. I did not and have no problem admitting my fault in this. I do not need your assistance in this though. I don't know much about phones or service agreements. I'm sure that there are many things out here in the real world that my knowledge of would far surpass yours. I would not feel the need to point them out though. I hope that u enjoy your day. I'm sure I'll enjoy mine

well if your going to say untruths like straight talk does not have rules for unlocking then yeah some people like me are going to say something.  Hence straight talk REQUIRES 12 months of service before they will allow you to unlock your device....  Its right in the fine print which we can agree you dont want to read...  Your posting on a customer to customer forum and its also a public forum so anyone can say anything as long as it sticks to the forum rules.

@Nathanieluriah  Since no one else mentioned it yet.  iPhones do not have unlock codes.  Once you get email approval, backup erase restore with iTunes.

As for Boost and Straight Talk, their policy requires 12 months and an active account.  Wanna try another, cause me and Google are pretty good at finding these...

Seriously? All you have to do is ask?  Go ask in their forums how that generally works out.

You know, you're the one that made the false claim "Straight talk doesnt. Boost doesnt." (implying that AT&T shouldn't) and when it shown that you were wrong you start to pick on the pick on the who found the correct answer to the incorrect "information" that you posted. Even if you were right, it wouldn't change AT&T's policy, but you were wrong.

Sure you pretended to graciously bow out after the comment, but you still took the dig. All you had to do was hit the backspace.
