DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PREPAID AND POSTPAID

I thought I was getting a postpaid account from AT&T, but have confirmed that I actually have a prepaid account. I wanted to ensure I have the best coverage, data speed and use of the phone while vacationing in Canada. The prepaid plan I'm on confirms that I have the coverage/use while in USA, Mexico and Canada.

Question 1: Am I being restricted in any way being on a prepaid plan?

Question 2: If question 1 is yes, can I convert the account, or do I cancel and apply for a new postpaid account?

Thanks

Depends on your definition of restricted. Prepaid coverage is not as good as postpaid but that’s in the US. You should get the same coverage in Canada and Mexico as postpaid users get. Prepaid also gets a lower priority than postpaid, should you be on a congested tower. Yes, you can move your number to postpaid but that must be done in an ATT corporate store. If you don’t care about keeping the number, just apply for postpaid at any retailer or online.
