Home phone wireless does not ring or go to answering system

I can send calls, but when incoming calls come in they do not ring or go to the answering system.  I purchased a new ATT wireless phone and it does the same.  It is not on call forwarding or in a sleep mode (do not disturb).  Suggestions before I start the fight with ATT?  LOL

Hello @garyrose77, we want to proceed further with identifying why your wireless home phone dosen't ring or go to the answering machine.

To better help us assist, we'd like to gain additional details from you:

  • What's the make and model of your wireless home phone and new purchased wireless device?
  • Have you previously set up your voicemail and are you able to access your voicemail system at this time on either device?
  • Were these devices purchased through AT&T or a third-party?

Be sure to reach back out and provide us with more information so that we're able to continue to assist. We look forward to helping.

Thanks for contacting the AT&T Community.

new model is the ATT DL72210.  Don't remember the older ATT model.  Got through a third party.  I had voice mail on old model and the new one model.  Like I said same issue with both phones.  Can call out incoming calls show up on caller ID and Missed calls, but phones do not ring or go to voice mail.  Old phone worked fine for years.

What are you calling wireless? Do you mean a cordless phone system? The DL72210 is a cordless phone system with many features including smart call blocker. DL72210 user manual will give you your answers as there's more than one reason it may not be ringing. I suggest plugging in a plain old, corded phone to the jack and see if it rings before going any further. If it rings turn off smart call blocker and see if your new phone will ring.

There is a difference between voicemail, provide by the phone company and your phone systems answering machine/device, so need to know which you're talking about.

Thanks, Yes I know all that you have spoken about.  Key here is the phone I replaced that I had been using several years had the same issue all of a sudden.  I got the new phone just to ensure it was not the phone.  I've eliminated any phone caused issues.  I have issues with my landline about once a year when the techs are working in the neighbor hood ATT box.  They go to the box and fix the problems then.  Was just hoping someone hear had seen them same issue and what the fix was.  thanks

If you have a traditional landline, POTS, test from the NID with a known working corded phone and if still bad report to the phone company. All the stuff about wireless and new phone old phone as well as voicemail was just confusing your issue.

I'll go look in the attic and see if I can find an old cord phone.  Everyone has one.  Sorry to have taken up your time.  ATT will take 3-4 days to respond and when they tell me it's not their problem I'll cancel the landline.  Not sure why I've been paying them $60+ a month for robo calls anyway.  Have a good weekend.
