How to group text more than 10 on AT&T
Learn what devices support Advance Messaging
The Wait is over! Through 2021, AT&T is continuing to increasing the number of people you can group text. It is slowly being rolled out and tested on many devices. Check out David T's Advance Messaging page for more information regarding group messaging and the new features to come.
***********Information below is still valid for some devices until the update is pushed to it.***********
***********We do not know when your device will support group messaging but it is coming.***********
Why Are There Limits?
AT&T has implemented a limit to the number of group message participants as a way to protect our customers from spam and/or malicious software. AT&T is vigilant about protecting you, our customers, from unsolicited text message spam.
Is AT&T Going To Update The Limit?
Some devices have the ability to send group messages with up to 30 contacts. More updates are coming to increase that number but I do not have any information when a change will take place. Last updated 2/23/2021.
If spam messages have affected you, you can report them by:
- Forwarding a copy of the SMS and MMS spam to short code 7726 (SPAM).
- You are not charged for forwarding the spam message to 7726.

This is ridiculous! Many groups and clubs use Messenger to communicate. Stop trying so hard to protect me! Been with AT&T 20 years for mobile service. If this isn't fixed STAT, I will be among those leaving. You darn sure aren't the best deal around.

I have a Note 8 and AT&T service, and by simply installing a third party sms app (I've tried three others) and then under settings->apps-> set it to be the default messaging app; each app let me send to at least 14 other contacts--that is my biggest test base I have experimented with. Also, they all automatically imported the messages from the other apps, so you don't lose your messages when changing to a new sms app.

AT&T DO SOMETHING! Your reasoning for "spam" and your new "group text" are pretty lame. With all your resources, you have not been able to fix this pretty simple problem.
HERE IS A SUPER SIMPLE SOLUTION. Just increase the number from 10 to 20! That should be a 2 minute code change. It will address 95% of the complaints on this issue, and you can still hold on to your "SPAM" concerns reasoning. CAN YOU PLEASE GET THIS DONE ASAP?

Hi
This is a 10 years old issue. They don't care about the customers. They have other revenue sources and the mobile customers like us don't mean much to them. I was a ATT customers for almost 20 years. It is a 30 seconds code change. The only way to get their attention is when people leaves in drove and it impact their revenue.
i solved this problem all by myself 3 months ago. I switch to Tmobile and save 25.00 a month on top of having no text limit. why are you begging ATT to change their way ? Just switch ...

Because you are dragging your feet on fixing this issue I am exploring differant carriers. My wife and I have been with AT&T a long time. I am tired of my group sending me messages that I cant respond to because you limit my ability to send to only 10 people.

Att doesn't care, I was just on the phone with them and I was told the limit is 10 contacts to a group chat and they have no changes planned! I am so furious now! I'm part of a group of board members of 17 people and because of this stupid restriction of participants I can't reply to the group text. I'm changing providers when I move, I'm done with ATT!!
