Home Phone and Voice Mail

recently installed AT&T service including home phone.  I have never set up my voice mail, however, when I lift my receiver I have "stutter" dial tone and was told that indicated I have a voice mail message.

How can I access my voice mail, listen to the message, delete them and then setup?

I also have the "stutter" dial tone on my AT&T home phone. It started when I had my home phone and internet changed from the copper wire line to the new fiber optics. I would also like to know how to access my voice mail.

Hi @_tCibE5_zSy03Wn_67HgE,

We completely understand your concern and would like to help. Let's get the assistance you require.

Request you to check the below steps:-

Only plans that include phone service will have a dial tone. If your plan includes phone, and you can’t get a dial tone or make a call, try these options:

  • Make sure all cords and wires are secure and not damaged.
  • Use another phone handset to see if you get a dial tone.
  • Check all your AT&T services for an outage in your area. The issue may be more than the dial tone.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi® gateway by unplugging the power cord for 10 seconds, then plugging it back in.
  • Plug your phone into the back of the Wi-Fi gateway. This may allow you to make and receive calls until the problem has been fixed.

Let us know if this helps.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums,

Tess, AT&T Community Specialist.
