Office Building with old Wires and boxes- will AT&T come out and remove

Our general contractor and the electrician said they cannot legally remove the old AT&T wiring and said we would need to contact AT&T to do this. Is there a direct contact for such a thing?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are these on the inside or out side of the building and are they cables coming from a pole or underground?  If there are large building terminals inside the building you'll more than likely need to contact engineering.

To Contact Engineering access the business forum, you'll need to register in that forum:

Did you ever get an answer or just the never ending runaround referral from department to department?

I have an old AT&T/Western Electric box inside my office that Contractors won't touch, even though it's been disconnected for 20 years.

@BubbaDubya zip code?

If the building existed with phone prior to 1984 there is a 2/3 chance that ATT is no longer the telco provider to contact but a different telco such as CenturyLink (Lumen), Fairpoint, Frontier Communications, Windstream, Verizon, etc.

This is due to the government breakup of MA Bell into (7) baby bells and the subsequent selling off of certain areas to other telcos with CenturyLink and Frontier being the major purchasers and (2) baby bells NYNEX and Bell Atlantic joining forces along with GTE to form Verizon (2000)
