How do I get AT&T to replace or repair a pole?

There is a pole located near my property that is rotted and split at the base.  I have contacted the city, PG&E, and Comcast and none of them own the pole.  All workers who have come out have said that it's just a matter of time until the pole falls onto either our house or the neighbors.  How do I get in contact with someone to A) verify that it's an AT&T pole and B) start work on replacing the pole?

Hi @ekleitman,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. AT&T customers and non-customers can report damaged poles or lines by calling here, 800.288.2020

I have the same problem, called the number listed, and I was told that they cannot do anything because I do not have an AT&T account. I asked for a manager and was told the same thing. I tried explaining how stupid that is, and how someone might get injured if this pole falls over, but they said there was nothing they could do unless I personally have an AT&T account. How do we get this addressed?

Follow the instructions here for downed or obstructed lines, follow all instructions.

@spoom2 Thanks. Those instructions say "Call 800.288.2020 and select Repair.", but I don't get an option to select Repair. I get voice prompts asking about my issue, I say Repair, and it asks "what seems to be the problem?", I say "pole damaged", and after a bit more it informs me that it cannot find my account information (as expected since I don't have one) and then hangs up on me. Top notch customer experience.

You're not following the instructions in the link provided.

. Have an account with us? Provide your account info and say, “Line is down.”

. Don’t have an account with us? Let us know you aren’t a customer, and then say, “Line is down.”

If this pole has poles on each side of it with a cable that just passes through from one pole to another, it won't fall, the cable will keep it upright, just because it's flagged as unsafe to climb doesn't mean it's in danger of falling anyway.  If it's on the end of a run and it's rotted out then yes it could possibly fall.  If your concerned call the number above in the solution post.

I have an AT&T pole in the parkway in front of my house that has been deemed unsafe by AT&T.  AT&T applied yellow hazard tape all around the pole, and it's marked with signage that says "Do Not Climb" and "Danger."  I don't feel comfortable with this pole in my front yard.  It's been deemed dangerous as well as being an eyesore.  The corner near this pole is also a bus stop for young children and I'm concerned if something happens to this pole or if it has weakened and could come down on my house or somebody walking by.

Call again to see if you can get an answer, this is a customer to customer help forum.  Or you could try PMing one of the admin.

I still have the old pole in my front yard. The new pole was placed in front yard back in October. The lines of Comcast, the power company, and our school systems cable has been transferred to the new pole as of December. So the line holding up the old pole removal is ATT's. All work has been completed except the work that ATT still needs to do. I am told that the person that is responsible to have the work completed is on disability now and that person won't be back to work until the end of March. So if a pole needs to replaced between now and the end of march there is no one in my area that can have the pole work completed?

All you can do is call the report number and if that doesn't work complain to your local utility commission or the FCC.
