All of a sudden my bellsouth email stopped working with Outlook. I continuously input my password on the Outlook screen but no luck.

I woke up on Thursday to check my emails on my laptop and I continuously get the "Internet Email" sign in box that pops up in Outlook.  I have my ATT/Bellsouth email linked to Outlook on my laptop.  I changed my password twice and still nothing.  I have no idea if the ATT site was hacked or what the deal is.  I can sign in getting updated emails on my iphone but I need to get emails on my laptop for work.  And right now it's only through the yahoo website.

Has this happened to anyone else?  I spoke to Microsoft and they gave me some troubleshooting tips but it's still not working.  I also read something about managing your app passwords but that doesn't seem to be working either.

This is so (Edited per community guidelines) frustrating because it should be a simple fix.  Put your password in and that's it.

Any suggestions???  Thank you!

We would be glad to assist you with your email trouble, brandonbuth.

Please use the following troubleshooting options from our Login and Email Solutions article:

  • Test using webmail - If you're able to sign in to your email via the web, the issue points to the app or mailbox you're using. You'll want to use Currently, as it's the official website for AT&T mail.
  • Mailboxes - We recommend using the latest version. Updates and changes may prevent it from working properly.
  • Rebuild your mailbox profile - In some instances, rebuilding the profile fixes some issues, but you may lose email doing this.
  • Change your settings from POP to IMAP.
  • Client issues - If you're using POP, you must now use IMAP. There was a recent change, which this article explains further.
  • Multiple email, one client - Please note, each email requires either a secure key or OAuth to be set up. Check out Microsoft's support page on how to set up multiple emails.
  • Reset your secure key - This has helped resolve issues in the past, especially when signing in to another client or troubleshooting your current one.

Please keep in mind that AT&T does not officially support or troubleshoot mailboxes/clients such as Outlook.

If you experience the same thing on Currently, let us kow, and we'll help you troubleshoot further.
