Not receiving email from gmail accounts

Last 2 days I have not received email from gmail accounts. I have received from other accounts and can email myself.   This happens whether I use the browser or my Mac Mail app.  Any ideas?

All,

Our teams continue to investigate reports of email customers experiencing delays receiving emails, due to an unusually high volume of spam originating from certain providers..

While issues regarding spam originating from Gmail have been addressed; a high volume of spam originating from the Microsoft email platform are still causing temporary delays in receiving emails from that platform. This incoming spam is an industry-wide issue that affects multiple email services.

In the meantime, if you receive a bounce-back email (or are aware of someone who received a bounce-back email) if you could forward that bounce-back email to postmaster@att.net, that could be very helpful in continuing to troubleshooting this issue.

We thank our customers for their patience as we work with Microsoft to help protect them from fraud.

I am not receiving emails from any Gmail accounts, but the sender shows they sent, so they don't know I am not getting them and I don't know they attempted to send them.  The last known receipt of a Gmail email was 2 days ago.

When using Google Mail (gmail) to send an email to my Phone (##########@mms.att.net), Gmail states:

Your message wasn't delivered because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail.

Any way to fix this? Is this AT&T side blocking emails?

Probably not. There is a known issue with email to text from gmail. It could very well be blocked by ATT due to the large number of spam and scam texts that come from gmail addresses.

Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your email-to-text messages, @matwms1998. We know how important it is for you to be able to send messages and documents from your email to your device. We can help!

It sounds like your email-to-text messages are being bounced. This can happen for a few reasons:

  • It can be due to a message being classified as spam by a recipient's mail server.
  • Also, if you have message blocking for unknown numbers on your text settings, this could prevent the email from coming through.

We hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions or concerns, please reach back out to us.

I stopped being able to receive email from a gmail sender yesterday from someone I email several times  a day.  They receive my emails but even when they respond back I do not get their reply and I don't get any emails they are sending me.  They are not blocked on either end.

Hello @DebbieTyrrell, we understand how important your email account is, and we'd be happy to help with the emails you're unable to receive.

To get started, we'd recommend clearing the cache and cookies from the device you're using. There could be saved data that is interfering with those specific emails not being received.

For further troubleshooting, please consult our Resolve Email Issues support article. This article can and will resolve most common email concerns. As well as provide troubleshooting and settings assistance, when it comes to AT&T/Yahoo email.

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forum!

I have done all that is suggested to no avail.    I saw there was an issue last thursday and friday with sbcglobal receiving gmail emails.  This still has not been fixed.

This is a continuous and growing problem. I just tested sending 5 emails to this account each from a different origination server, each with a different subject and a different body. All of them show they sent, however none of them show up on this account. Not in spam/junk, just simply not there. I know for a fact this is happening to some of our customers and suppliers. Unacceptable, now since this issue is getting worse we are going to have to spend thousands to switch. Unacceptable to say the least. AT&T has long been a questionable company, now they are actively disrupting commerce.

People sending email to my sbcglobal.net, from various domains, are getting bounce back from emails they send to me. They are not blocked email addresses (I saw the prior AT&T responses here)...I've checked blocked addresses and they are not.  HELP! I NEED TO RECEIVE MY EMAIL. I'm still receiving emails, but mostly junk!

We understand the importance of each email message @rsleonard820. Let's fix this for you as soon as possible.

Email messages will bounce back when your inbox is full, or the forwarded email address inbox is full. Please check whether the inbox is full, or you have Email forwarding feature enabled email address inbox is full.

Please write back if you need any assistance.

Thanks for your response? What does that mean "Full?" Where do I find "capacity" or how much email is in my box? Also, what do you mean by "or you have Email forwarding feature enabled email address inbox is full.?"

Hi @rsleonard820, we understand the importance of receiving all emails to your inbox, and we'd be happy to assist you with this.

We recommend that you follow the troubleshooting steps:

  • Check your email size. If your email is too big, it may not be sent.
  • Be sure you’re using the correct recipient email address. If not, you may get error messages like Failed Delivery or Problem Found - Message Not Sent.
  • Try signing out of your email account and signing back in.
Check your spam folder for missing emails!
  • If you are using an email app, consider using OAuth or a Secure Mail Key to  access your emails. OAuth (Open Authentication) is a secure feature that encrypts your credentials to better protect them from hackers.
  • Reset your email password, and be sure to sign out of every browser or app you are signed in, and sign back in with the new password.
  • If you are using a 3rd party mailbox like Outlook, disable it to make sure that the mailbox is not causing the issues.
  • Sometimes non-AT&T emails are blocked for spam. If this is done in error, check out our AT&T Postmaster Support page.

You can also try to clear cache and cookies, due to saved data that could be interfering with your account not receiving any emails.

There are a variety of factors that can cause you not to receive email, so we recommend that you go through our article on how to resolve email issue.

Let us know how it goes!

JasmineS, did you read the issue that I'm having? It's with the behavior of my mailbox at sbcglobal.net, it has nothing to do with my computer. I've now gotten two completely different responses from AT&T staff.

The first response said my email box might be full. I asked "Thanks for your response? What does that mean "Full?" Where do I find "capacity" or how much email is in my box? Also, what do you mean by "or you have Email forwarding feature enabled email address inbox is full.?""

Please answer that question.

Meanwhile, here are my responses to your suggestions:

  • Check your email size. If your email is too big, it may not be sent.
  • Be sure you’re using the correct recipient email address. If not, you may get error messages like Failed Delivery or Problem Found - Message Not Sent.
  • Try signing out of your email account and signing back in.
Check your spam folder for missing emails! YOU MISSED THE POINT. Emails are bouncing back to sender; they are not being received at all.
  • If you are using an email app, consider using OAuth or a Secure Mail Key to  access your emails. OAuth (Open Authentication) is a secure feature that encrypts your credentials to better protect them from hackers. Not using an email app.
  • Reset your email password, and be sure to sign out of every browser or app you are signed in, and sign back in with the new password. You've identified an incorrect issue; I am not having getting to my email; some emails sent to me are being bounced back. Others are being delayed by up to 18 hours.
  • If you are using a 3rd party mailbox like Outlook, disable it to make sure that the mailbox is not causing the issues. I am accessing my email through
  • Sometimes non-AT&T emails are blocked for spam. If this is done in error, check out our AT&T Postmaster Support pageI will check this out, since the emails are coming from Google hosted domains, for example, from my wife's business.

You can also try to clear cache and cookies, due to saved data that could be interfering with your account not receiving any emails. Done.

Tonight, after 11 p.m. EST, I sent myself two test emails from my Gmail address to my att.net email address. Neither of these two test emails have shown up in my att.net inbox. I have checked on Currently and also in the Yahoo app on my phone. The only way I can see these emails is to go to Gmail/All Mail. They do not appear in my specific att.net email section on Gmail, just in All Mail. Please resolve this issue. It is crucial to receive emails from my Gmail contacts in my att.net inbox.

Same issue.  Similar timing when neither my spouse nor I (separate att email addresses) are not getting gmail emails from specific family and friends, yet are receiving a few from other friends with gmail accounts.

Same issue here~ I have sbcglobal.net.

This is very frustrating, to say the least.

I am having same issue.  Emails sent from my gmail account appear to send okay but never reach my inbox for my att.net account (Outlook 2013).  Emails coming from other email providers are able to reach my att.net inbox.   I chatted with ATT rep this morning and they stated that there is an issue on ATT email server but did not elaborate on what exact issue was.  Rep stated that they are working to fix issue but could not provide an ETA on resolution.

26 Messages

Also having this issue with @att.net, @sbcglobal.net, and @swbell.net addresses (all AT&T domains).  I called yesterday and they said "we are not aware of any problems".  Tried calling again today and the wait is 2 hours... bet they are aware of a problem now.  Started for me yesterday morning on 12/1/2023.

Ditto here,  was sporadic for a few days, then yesterday, it's 100% dead..  I do can not receive any emails to my SBCglobal account for gmail addresses.

similar issue, in that no emails are showing up in my spam folder, usually 20 a day show up, now nothing...     ATT probably messed up with new security software or settings and it's blocking all gmails...    to more likely it's russian or chinese / korean hackers....

I have already done all of that from reading other posts.  The emails are not in Spam folder.  I have no Blocked Address. No filters.  Today I actually received a gmail email from someone that made we aware of this todays ago, but when I test it by sending my emails from my gmail account or my wife's gmail, I get nothing in the sbcglobal.net
