McAfee Internet Security Suite & Fixed Wireless Internet

I am being told that the ATT McAfee Internet Security Suite is NOT available to Fixed Wireless Internet customers. Has any other Fixed Wireless customers had this experience? Has any Fixed Wireless customer been able to download the McAfee Internet Security Suite from ATT?

I recently switched from ATT DSL to ATT Fixed Wireless Internet. At the time, I was assured by the "salesperson" that the McAfee Internet Security Suite provided by ATT IS available for Fixed Wireless Internet customers. ATT Consumer support on How to Get Inernet Security Suite simply says AT&T Internet or DSL customers with a connection speed of 3.0Mbps or higher can download the Internet Security Suite free of charge.

I had been running the Security Suite with my DSL service (for 15 years!) and last week I suddenly got a message that says my subscription has expired. ATT now tells me the subscription was through the DSL service and the Fixed Wireless is not eligible.

Any thoughts?

Hey, @VJP1. Let's see if we can help you install the Internet Security Suite.

Since you've had it for 15 years, you will need to completely uninstall the Security Suite before starting. Once it is all removed, try Installing the Internet Security Suite again.

Let us know if this helps!

When I try to install it from your link (after completely uninstalling McAfee from my computer), I get the following message:

AT&T Internet Security Suite powered by McAfee®

Eligibility

The AT&T Internet Security Suite is only available to AT&T High Speed Internet and DSL customers at this time.

To learn more, or to place an order for AT&T Internet products, please visit att.com/dsl.

After about 3 hours on "chat" and telephone customer support, they finally told me I am getting this message because Fixed Wireless Internet customers are not eligible. Only U-Verse and DSL.

I find that hard to believe, since I find the McAfee suite referenced in several of the Fixed Wireless FAQs. Also, my fixed wireless service is way faster than the DSL I had before.

@VJP1,

Yes, that is correct Fixed Wireless Internet customers are not eligible. Only AT&T Internet and DSL customers are eligible for AT&T Internet Security Suite powered by McAfee®. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.

I'm really dissatisfied to hear this. The salesperson guaranteed me when we switched from DSL to Fixed Wireless that the McAfee Internet Security Suite was included with Fixed Wireless. And everything I read online on the ATT website simply says - If you’re an AT&T Internet or DSL customer with a connection speed of 3Mbps or higher, you can download Internet Security Suite free.

I am an Internet customer with a connection speed of 3Mbps or higher.

In a support article under Fixed Wireless Internet entitled "Guard against malware" it references the Free AT&T Internet Security Suite powered by McAfee.

But now Fixed Wireless customers are not eligible.

ATT was trying to eliminate DSL in our area (they were not installing any new service but were allowing existing customer to continue) and Fixed Wireless was their suggested replacement for the DSL.

Even slow speed DSL customers can purchase the Suite for $5.00/month. But Fixed Wireless customers are not eligible at all.

None of this makes any sense to me.

I'm frustrated, confused and really upset by all of this.
