Error Msg - Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

I have an ATT-Yahoo email account (xxx at bellsouth.net) for which I use Outlook 2016 to access.

Recently, people have told me that they get an “Undeliverable” message when they send me an email or Reply to my email.  The message reads like this:

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

The recipient's mailbox is full and can't accept messages now. Please try resending your message later, or contact the recipient directly.

I actually DO receive the sent email even though the error message says that the message was undeliverable.

I am using Outlook 2016 and Windows 10.  I also have my iPhone 8 set up to send and receive emails from the account.  I have 1 TB of email storage and only use 0.06% of it.

Any Idea why people get the "Undeliverable" error message AND what I can do to stop it?

Thanks.

Chuck

Hello @jurgens

We understand that you're having an issue with email error when trying to receive emails.

Is there a  limit set for your email account?

All people or just some?  Because if it's just some then I think that's their problem, not yours.  If you send an email to yourself do you get those errors?

I actually DO receive the sent email even though the error message says that the message was undeliverable.

So they get that error message and you still get their email but also with that same error message tacked on to it???

I am using Outlook 2016 and Windows 10.  I also have my iPhone 8 set up to send and receive emails from the account.  I have 1 TB of email storage and only use 0.06% of it.

Can I assume these two email client apps are set up as IMAP and you got the .06% number by logging into the webmail?

Google search on "Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups" and/or "The recipient's mailbox is full and can't accept messages now" turns up many results and the ones I sampled involve microsoft exchange.  From the few results I sampled I am still not convinced this is your problem if only some users are reporting this and not all.

Everyone who sends an email to me OR Replies to an email from me receives the Error Msg.

I DO NOT receive the Error Msg if I send an email to myself.

No, the Error Msg is not attached to the original email that is sent to me.  The emails sent to me are "normal".

I am using Outlook 2016 for my email client on my PC.  The 0.06% usage is with webmail.

I also have it running on my iPhone as IMAP.

Everything has been running fine until recently.  Today, I changed to the updated in/out servers.  Still have the problem.

What "updated in/out servers"?  There are no changed or updated server names?  The server info is shown here and it's been the same for quite some time now.

I have been using 'pop.att.yahoo.com' for the incoming POP server and 'smtp.att.yahoo.com' for the outgoing server.  In the last few days I saw where the servers were changed to 'inbound.att.net' and 'outbound.att.net' so I changed my server settings to these 'new' ones.

That change did not did not affect my incoming or outgoing emails but it DID NOT correct the problem.
