WiFi is “Online” but WiFi Name is not showing up for Availability to connect AFTER STORM/POWER OUTAGE

We had some storms + tornadoes in our area last night that resulted in us losing power to our home for a short period of time. After power was restored, none of our devices were connected to the internet. I got on our smart home manager app which shows that we are online and WiFi signal is strong. It shows 0 devices connected, however, it will not let me connect to them on this app. Since the wifi is on I cannot troubleshoot any issues. What are my next steps?

Hi there, @MC23! We want to help with your Internet connection.

We recommend that you start by rebooting your gateway. This can help to refresh your connection after experiencing a power outage. This can be done manually by following these steps:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your gateway or modem. If you have:
    • An internal battery backup, remove it
    • DSL, unplug the phone cord from your modem or gateway
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Put the internal battery back in if you have one.
  4. Plug the power cord back in. If you have DSL service, reconnect the phone cord.
  5. Wait for the gateway or modem to restart and your Broadband light to turn solid green. This can take up to 10 minutes.

Once you've done that, let us know what color your gateway status lights are. Knowing this can help us to determine the best troubleshooting steps to take moving forward.

We also suggest that you check your cables. You'll want to verify that all physical connections to your AT&T gateway and computer are in place (e.g., phone line, power cords, ethernet cables). The AT&T gateway should not be plugged into a surge protector. Note: If your AT&T provided gateway is connected to a third party router (Linksys, DLink, etc), you should remove that equipment before continuing.

We look forward to hearing back from you!
