Wifi extender blinking red

I have hardwired it and reset and also placed them side by side with no hardware. I pressed the pairing buttons and the extender is still blinking red

Hi, @Jonmdp.

We are happy to help you with your blinking WiFi extender concerns. How long has your receiver been blinking red?

Check your internet router, is it blinking red as well?

Check out our Smart Home Manager. Sign in, and run a diagnostic test. This will show any errors in your home network and provide suggestions if needed. Let us know if this helps, we hope to hear back from you soon!

my AT&T WiFi Air 4920 has been blinking red today. I’ve tried pairing close to the WiFi gateway, to no luck, I’ve tried pairing via an Ethernet cord, to no luck. Why would it just stop working after over a year of working?

I"m having the same issue. I had two extenders that stopped working in the last two weeks. Just bought a brand new Air 4920 that arrived today and that also is blinking red. I have the extenders pairing right next to the gateway and I've paired via ethernet cord. Can't find any other help other than saying move the extender closer to the gateway.

I'm having the exact same issue: Had 2 extenders for >1 year working fine. Inexplicably stopped working this week- blinking red on both extenders. Router still works, but the extenders will not pair, despite trying all the recommendations online to re-pair. Frustrating since content online is so limited.

I am having the same problem. Did anyone find a solution to this?

I'm looking for a solution to this as well. I've had the extender for over a year now. I've tried all the suggested solutions to correct the blinking red lights. I have moved it closer to the gateway and powering off/on a couple times. I have also tried directly connecting via ethernet cable, but no luck. I'm starting to wonder if these extenders are just defective.

Two days ago. my 4920's and 4971's all went "red."  Now idea why, they've been running fine for over a year.

Anyway, nothing I tried worked.  So I had to remove them from the network and re-install them.  That worked, but I shouldn't have had to do that in my opinion.

Easiest way I found to do this is thru AT&T's router using the "smart home manager."  Just delete them and re-install again.  Kinda irritating...All three went nuts for no "apparent reason."

I wonder if the AirTies or, perhaps more likely, your AT&T gateway got a firmware update?

Toni . . .

"Gateway update" was my guess.  I did try looking thru the Gateway router logs.  "they" log nearly "EVERYTHING."  If one doesn't notice an issue soon enough, the event is  irritatingly  smothered by entries.   I'll just mark it down as a possible gateway router firmware update...
