We'd be happy to walk you through the process of disabling the 2.4Ghz radio band on your router, @okaussie_1.

First you’ll need to access your router’s settings interface through a web browser. Just type your IP address into the address bar. Then you'll have to sign into your network using your Wi-Fi password. Once you're signed in, you'll be able to disable the radio band in Settings.

We hope this helps! If you require further assistance, just let us know.

@ATTHelp

Nope. This is for the AirTies 4920 WIFI Extender not the 5268AC Router..

@okaussie_1.

To disable the 2.4 Ghz band specifically for your extender, you could try entering http://air4920.local into your browser's address bar and accessing the extender's settings from there. If you're unable to do it that way, you may find the option to do it using the Smart Home Manager as well.

Let us know if this works!

As to the first suggestion, it does not give any options to change anything but the password.

As to the second suggestion, under TOOLS and network notifications, it states that the 2.4GHZ is disabled.

According to the router, the 2.4 is disabled when you look into it. Since you can't look into the extender, how do you know if it is turned off too.

I have the 2.4 and the flashing 5 lights on the extender.

In the router it shows just the device, does not show what speeds is turned on.

@okaussie_1.

Since your 2.4 Ghz band is disabled on your gateway but not your extender, you may need to reset the whole system. Please follow these steps below:

  • Unplug the power cord from the back of your Wi-Fi Gateway.
    Leave it unplugged for 15 seconds and plug it back in.

  • Then unplug the power cord from the back of your Extender.
    Leave it unplugged for 15 seconds and plug it back in.

  • You may need to wait up to 10 minutes for your Gateway or
    Extender to completely reboot.

Let us know once you've tried this!

Without looking into the Extender, how will I know that it is only running at 5GHZ?

Will the light for the 2.4 be out on the front?

My Router does show that the extender is running at 5GHZ.

I want it off due to having issues with my Streaming video and the 2.4. It runs faster with alot less errors on 5GHZ.

There is no point in the extender running at 2.4 if it is not being used and won't be an issue with the streaming video.

Hey @okaussie_1, have you tired to make the names different on each band to make sure when extender is picking up signal its not trying to pick up both bands?

I would suggest that you make the names a little different, then reboot the router then see or you still having that issue.

The problem is, the extender only allows me to change password and do firmware updates. That's the only items listed in the settings I have access to.

Would it make a difference if I used the LAN connection from the extender to my PC instead of using the WIFI from the router to the extender to have more access to the extender??

I changed the name in the router on the 2.4 radio. I enabled it, rebooted the extender. Then I disabled the 2.4 in the router.

Since I can't turn the 2.4 off in the extender, maybe this will work.

Will see...

TIA
