AT&T Solutions Easement FAQs

Easements are a right given to another person or entity to trespass upon or use land owned by somebody else. Easements are used for roads, for example, or given to utility companies for the right to bury cables or access utility lines.

This does not mean you can't use the easement, but it does mean that you are not allowed to do anything impedes the right-of-way or convenience of the easement. So you will not be able to put up a fence that blocks access or build on it in such a way where it becomes difficult for anyone to do the tasks needed to be done on the easement. If you do wish to build on or around the easement, we suggest obtaining and filling out a release of easement form.

How to know if there is an Easement on your Property
You can go to the county land records office or city hall and ask a clerk to show you a map of the easement locations. A survey of the property will also show the location of utility easements.

Who can Access my Easement
Any entity that has rights to the easement can access it in a reasonable way. If no path is available, the entities that have rights to the easement are allowed to take reasonable measures to gain access. No notice is required to access the easement.
