configure modem from remote location

 I have two residences, with uverse and when there is issue at my other home in nearby town, (with computer illiterate individuals) and  I want to access modem and make changes to configuration just as I do while I am there, but have not discovered a way- anybody know a way to access remotely?  i choose the linked account and enter change network settings, all that comes up is the network info for the account where I am at the present time.
