What is Lightspeed?

The public IP of our ATT modem (107.142.0.0) does not match the first hop address of a trace route.  Why is this?  We are trying to hit the public IP to gain access to our security camera system but it isn't working.  Can this be the issue?

traceroute to 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8), 30 hops max, 38 byte packets

Lightspeed is the project name for the original U-verse VDSL2 roll out project 15 years ago. "Lightspeed" derived from the fiber in the FTTN delivery.  The node names for the networking supporting VDSL2 deployment still use that naming.

Was that traceroute done from the AT&T Gateway?

Lightspeed as stated refers to UVERSE original PROJECT name...

PROJECT LIGHTSPEED

The initials are also associated with UVERSE, one test techs may run is LSBBT or LightSpeed BroadBand Test, sometimes shorten to BBT.

Most consumers when setting up their internet service went to website LSREG.ATT.NET which is for LightSpeed Registration of ATT internet service.
