DSL Connection keeps dropping

I have spent hours on the phone over the last year and a half with AT&T with very little satisfaction.  I have been an AT&T user for over 40 years, but if this issue is not solved, I will be moving my business else where.  DSL modem is my choice for internet and yes I have received the sales pitch of  getting U-verse OVER AND OVER.  As I said, DSL modem is what I prefer.  I have unplugged all phones and DSL filters.  I have changed chords.  I have restarted the modem over and over.  Still the problem is there.  I am dropping connection every 2 minutes.  I have a graduate college class for History of Movie Musicals, which I cannot do work in, because I cannot watch the necessary films!  I have watched my bill skyrocket to over $200/month this past year and I do not get cable or have U-Verse.  I have called numerous times to ask what I need to do to reduce my bills, as I am a widowed teacher soon to retire and will not be able to maintain that once I retire.  They tell me there is nothing I can do to reduce my bills and I have the teacher discount.  All I get is cell phone and internet service, my bills should not be that high.  So here I am paying $210 for a service that is not even working.  Every time this has happened in the past, it has been an external problem, yet no credit is given to the account when paying for services I am not receiving.  The problem is solved for 5-6 months and then returns.  Please, come out and take care of this, I am assuming once again, external problem, as I have done everything tech has told me to do in the past (it has become a regular routine).  I am truly frustrated and quite frankly done with this!  All of my class work is due by the end of next week and there is no way I will be sitting in a library to watch the numerous films I am behind in, so now not only will I be paying for a service I am not receiving, but a class, which I will not pass.  It is taking over an hour just to post this message!

Well my DSL was dropping out dozens of times a day.

I turned off wifi broadcasting on my modem, And ethernet wired everything,

And the problem went away. It was wifi interference.

Hope this helps somebody

The same thing happens to me.  I live in a rural area so att dsl is the only choice i have.  It constantly drops.  We pay close to 200 and only get about 1.5 mbps, even though we're paying for 6.  When the internet is intermittent, it's ALWAYS been because of a break in the line somewhere across town.  The tech will patch it, but sure enough, 6 months later, it's broken again.  So tired of this.  It should be illegal to service this way.  Some parts of my job require internet and it's frustrating that i can't do anything when it's out like this.  Att needs to fix their equipment and services.  Ridiculous that we're paying so much for such crap.
