Internet speed

I have an internet gateway and router. I have a 100mb plan. 100/20. When I test from an ATT logo'd site I at best get 37 to 54 mb download and 20 upload. ATT says I am getting 100mb download. How can that be so far off.

Hello @mikeobskjk

We appreciate you reaching out through our Community Forum. We're glad to assist you with your questions regarding speed results.

We understand that you have some questions regarding differences with your speed test results. We're glad to assist you.

When you're reviewing speed tests within the Interface of the RG (Residential Gateway-router), you're looking at elimination of your devices from the speed test to provide a true result of the speed that AT&T is delivering to your RG.

There are so many variables when it comes to speed results. We would recommend running different tests using different options/sources. The Ookla Speedtest is as popular option. Also, high peak volume times (Internet Traffic) can factor into your speed results, so the time timing of the speed test can prove to show different results.

Home networking situations can also play a factor into your speed results. Connected devices, file sharing, streaming or gaming can create changes when it comes to results as well. Keep in mind what's going on with your network at the time you're running the test.

You might look into some configurations thought the RG to see if you can improve your network performance. One thing you might look into is changing the channel within the RG settings.

Here is a good article to guide you through that process.

You may also find this article helpful when it comes to Internet speeds that you receive.
