The unit was left behind after the owner sold the condo. It is no longer in use.Two different people have owned the condo since. The low battery alarm has been going off. Can the unit just be unplugged to silence the alarm or does the battery need to be removed?

Remove the battery and unplug the unit… unplugging only will keep having low battery alarm until battery is dead.
