Hello @ZHERXIES,

I can relate to the speeds not being what you expected, especially after several attempts to find the problem.

This article on Speed Tiers under the area of fiber provides the speeds.

I do have a question to present; when the technician came out did they mention anything about the type of wiring in your home which is running throughout the house for cable access?

This next article has information on cooper wiring versing fiber optic wiring.  The article is Copper Retirement.  This provides you with detailed information about the two types.

I have on other process which is this great tool, Troubleshoot & Resolve and run a diagnostic on the modem/router for answers to the problem

If these two articles do not resolve your concern and question, please reach out to us to further assist in the answer.

Have a safe and wonderful weekend.

Yeah, I'm also curious what your technicians said.

So you're testing your speed using WiFi?

This is how I handle my slow browse 1gbps dispatches:

Every 3rd party device is not built the same. Newer PCs, laptops, phones, etc will perform better, as they have better components.

Because I'm not given a laptop to keep on my truck I resort to using my company provided iPhone to test.

The iPhone 6s will normally pull 200-300mbps (symmetrical) when I'm standing near the modem.

Keep in mind this is on the 5GHz WiFi band. On 2.4GHz you won't hit much over 60mbps.

If my phone is pulling way less, like 20mbps even on the 5GHz band then I know there is a problem.

But again, keep in mind, different devices are capable of different speeds.

Got AT&T Fiber Optics 1000mbs installed Saturday. My Desktop computer which has a Realtek MBE gigabyte Family Network adapter was connected directly to the Arris 210-700 Modem Router but would only run at 100mbs (actual speed approx. 90mbs. Found the problem was the original Cat 5 Ethernet cable that was installed (with the old Pots line telephone wires 50mbs at best but capped at 34mb). Ran a Cat 6 Ethernet cable and all is well now. Approx. 928mbs download about same upload with 3ms ping.

hi @ZHERXIES I have a few questions for you but I'm positive we can help resolve your issue!

1. Whats the highest speeds you have EVER seen? From any device?

2. Did you recently upgrade to the 1000 when you had a slower speed before with the same Residential Gateway?

3. I'm assuming after reading your post you are hardwired and the physical connection is 1000 Mbps

4. Have you tried running the PC Maintenance Tool ?

5. If you are running hard wired, is the modem near the computer and connected with a prefabricated cat5e or cat6 wire, OR is it connected with an Ethernet running through the house?

I look forward to your response!
