4971 wifi extender

I have an office in the backyard, detached from main house where wifi is very weak, even with an extender. I extended a hardwire and internet on computer works great. I still wish to have wifi for other devices. Can I hardwire to the wifi extender directly, provide wifi to other devices in office, as well as hardwire to computer to give that optimum connectivity?

I tried to look up if that 4971 can act as an access point, but the support doc says nothing.  If it were me, I'd just plug it into your network cable and see what happens.

Yes you can not only use your extender by connecting it directly with ethernet cable, but you will still have another ethernet port available to connect your computer to. That way you will have both reliable hardwired connection in the office for your pc and solid wifi as well. Just unplug your extender from power connect ethernet cables then plug it back into power and you are set.

Skim down to ethernet backhaul for reference.

Hi @MoisesGiron!

We understand the importance of active services. We can help you get your Wi-Fi Extender working again.

Reboot your gateway, then try to pair the extender again, using either WPS or Ethernet.

We'll be waiting for your update.
