Out of curiosity, do you think you see something wrong in either of these traceroutes?  I assume these were taken when you were having issues.  Is there a time when you don't have these issues?  Can you provide traceroutes from then?

I am losing 30-50% of my packets.  These trace routes were taken when the game is unplayable, rubberbanding and freezing.  I do not have traceroutes from when the game is totally playable.  Normally when I run the game I am in a 23-30 png, now I am in a 70 - whatever png and sometimes it freezes.

I have not had any changes on my home network at all.  I did do some speed tests though and I have a 489 download and a 980 upload, which is a bit low for fiber optic on the upload.

Hi @brettwad

We recognize that packet loss has a significant impact on internet speed. If you need assistance, please contact our Contact Us page. Regrettably, since forums are a public platform, we cannot investigate account-specific issues.

Having the exact same problem. Seems the culprit is the twelve99 servers I'm being routed through.
AT&T why are you forcing us to use servers that are garbage?

Sorry but neither of you a have real issue packet loss issue. Using a Tracert command is just sending very low priority ICMP packets to each router along the path to your game server. Routers are configured to drop multiple useless ICMP traffic when they are prioritizing network traffic. 100% packet loss of your ICMP packets does not indicate an issue.

Your posted results that show that your times are less than 70ms at your target server. High latency would be sustained latency above 100ms over a period of time. Examples would be spikes of 400+ ms response to one or more routers along your path.

@ArmyPilot12 the twelve99.net network is a backbone provider. If you don't like the backbone (bb) routing try a free VPN such as the one offered by CloudFlare. Or you could move to Chicago where your game server is located.

Hi dave006,  I pinged the server targeted in the tracert.  I did not use the tracecert for any calculations of packet loss.  The pings indicated I have 30%, 48% and 54% packet loss.  I have also added Pingplotter to my tools and it is indicating the samething with times at 70% loss.

Pingplotter uses ICMP with TTLs as well just like traceroute, and ICMP is also what PING uses.  To measure packet loss, you have to lose real traffic, not ICMP test traffic.

JefferMC OK then I guess these tools will be deleted from my repertoire.  What needs to be used then?
