Problem with email login from multiple devices

Recently (over the last 1~2 weeks) I can not login on two different devices without resetting the password.  If I have my iphone mail logged in and retrieving email, then attempt to use a PC browser (with cleared cache and multiple different browsers), I always get the error message "Looks like you've tried to unsuccessfully sign in too many times, recover your ID or reset your password" .

This happens on the first log on attempt on the new advice, even with a brand new password.   This happens repeatedly and unavoidably.

For clarity, here is the scenario:

Access att mail on Iphone, get error message.   Reset password, access OK and stays OK, until ->

Then access PC browser based att mail.   Get error message.   Reset password, access OK and stays OK, however, if i return to the Iphone mail, I get the error message again.

What is clear is that you can not move between devices without resetting the password (same or different password, doesnt matter)

This is a recent change in behavior and prior to the last 2 weeks, I have never had an issue with moving between devices.

A solution to this is appreciated as I am getting tired of having to reset my password every time i move between handheld and pc.

Hi, @dcowart.

Here is more information on Secure Mail Keys and Open Authentication.

These are added security measures that protect you against hackers and fraudsters. They are required in order for your email to work properly.

Let us know if this helps.

I'm having the same issue.. i opened another thread on this not realizing others were having the same issue.  Other thread: Account Login Issues: ATT.com & my.yahoo.com account requires password reset every login | AT&T Community Forums

I have done the following:

Waited 24 hours

Cleared cache, history, etc.

Changed password

Used new browser

Rebooted device and laptop

STILL getting same message.  I'm able to get in after resetting password but if i log out/back in or attempt to login on another device i get the error message ALL OVER AGAIN.

Original problem is still not resolved. No explanation from ATT as to what they have changed.  Sadly, I have been in the process of migrating away from ATT and Yahoo platforms.  Maybe that is what the corporation intended to do to their legacy customers.

Yea i posted this several days ago in two different threads.  One thread got moved to this forum.  No other response.  This thread... nothing.

Correction: Looks like my other post got pulled to private and they are reaching out to assist.

I'm having the same issue. Over the last two weeks, I am getting the "

Looks like you’ve tried to sign in unsuccessfully too many times. Recover your ID or reset your password to continue." anytime I try to access my email or account. This is happening from browser on PC, through Yahoo apps on my phone and through Outlook on my phone. The only thing that seems to still work is Outlook on my PC.

I've had to reset my password multiple times, I have waited more than 24 hours to do so, I've cleared cookies on all devices I know of that have the account info anywhere, I've deleted the account from Outlook and deleted the Yahoo apps from my phone. None of that has worked to clear the issue.

Any additional suggestions or anyone with either a phone number, email address or chat link for customer support?

They have been reaching out to me to assist also, but only call when I am not available.  They have requested to confirm when I am available during their work day, but I still have not received a call during my availability to speak with them.  Hope you have better luck.  Watch for what appears to be a spam call.  If they leave you a message, don't expect to be able to call them back.  The extension provided does not connect to anyone, only drops your call after sending you to inaccessible voice mail box.   I even have a case number assigned.  Good luck.  Please share any updates.  Thank you.

Update: On PC desktop switched from Firefox latest version to MS Edge and could login. Went back to Firefox, and same failure.

Same problem as all above but neither Firefox or edge will work. Somebody from ATT better find the fix real quick or I am closing everything out.

Odd it allows me to log-in here though. Can't go to my account though.
