Unable to unlock iphone

I recently moved out of the US and got my number de-activated.When I am trying to unlock my device using the IMEI number I get a negative response stating that the request cannot be processed as the device is associated with fraud.

please advise on how can I get my device unlocked remotely.

Hello @palsnitj,

It is great to unlock your phone, especially now since you moved from the US!  We can definitely help you with this and provide you with the steps!

If the phone is showing an error message about it being associated with fraud, it may prevent the unlocking.  Please make sure when you fill out the unlock form information with the proper details of the line which the phone is under and registered with.  Also, please verify if your phone is AT&T branded.

You are able to visit this link in order to see details on how the unlock process works and to review its requirements.  Once you are ready to request your unlock code, please visit here.  After submitting the request, you will get a confirmation email of it’s approval status. Here will be the instructions to unlock it once you get the approval and unlock code.

If needed, you can contact us for further help. Have a great day!

Hello,
Thanks for your response.
I verified that my phone is out of contract and that It is not been stolen.
However I do not have active connection yet as I closed the line before moving out of the US.
Can ATnT check my records from earlier and unlock the device?
Number - [edited for privacy – please do not post personal information]

Thanks,
Pallavi

Same issue with my wife's iPhone XR. It was purchased from Apple online but with an ATT SIM card preinstalled. I had assumed it would be unlocked but found out that it is locked. Submitted several unlock request and they were denied but no reason given and the email said to try again in a few days. After many tries then got an email the due to the numerous request I could not submit another request for 30 days.

Called ATT and they suggested I go to the ATT store. My wife went there and basically they did the same thing I did which is submit an unlock request online. She insisted that either they figure out how to unlock it or replace the phone with an unlocked phone which they refused.

At this point we are being held hostage and she cannot switch carriers.

If you meet the unlock requirements, then just file an FCC complaint to get it unlocked.  Going to the store is a waste of time as they can’t unlock phones at the store and there is no way that AT&T is going to give you a new phone, especially if you bought it from Apple.
