Switched/upgraded phones - DATA ISSUE

I’ve had an iPhone 5 16Gb for a couple of years. My parents ordered me an iPhone 6 32Gb (off of Amazon not Apple) and received it in the mail yesterday. I am just now realizing that my text messages (not iMessage) won’t go through. My data is turned on but the LTE sign doesn’t pop up & when I turn off the WiFi nothing works. Is it because I switched phones? Or could it be that I can’t upgrade from 16Gb to 32Gb?? I’m confused I don’t understand what the issue is. Does anyone know what’s wrong?? Thank you in advance.

Do you have cellular service on the new phone? Did you move your SIM card from the iPhone 5?

I moved the SIM card from the 5 to the 6. I had service but no LTE or 4G. I spoke to someone from AT&T and they told me that they needed proof of purchase from the seller I bought the phone from. They had shut off my data but it is now resolved. All I have to do is get the proof from the seller. Thank you for responding!! I appreciate it. Happy New Year!
