Siri "Sorry, your message was not understood. Please try again"

iPhone 6 IOS 9.3.5

I am trying to use Siri to send a text message. Each time that I do, she accepts it and even says sent. I then receive a text message from 662-453 stating  "Sorry, your message was not understood. Please try again".

When I go to the message conversation area, every message I sent is in a conversation

to _$!!$. It does not matter who I am sending to, these two items occur.

This only started occurring last week.

I reset "all settings" and it did not fix it.

Thanks for any help.

Hi @jleishman740!

Sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve been having with your Siri! It’s definitely frustrating when such a handy feature is malfunctioning!

Try toggling it off in Settings > General > Siri, then soft reset the phone by holding power + home. Once it restarts try turning it back on again, and re-attempt!

Let us know if you have any further questions! We’re glad to help!

What about sending text messages the "old fashioned" way? Still have problems with text?

Yes, that's the strange thing. Regular texting works just fine. It's only when using Siri.

Hi @jleishman740!

Sorry to hear that Siri is still not functioning after resetting your phone.

Apple has some great resources that should point you in the right direction.

The dedicated Siri Support site has a help section and although there is nothing listed for the specific error you’re receiving, there are some additional steps you can try and an option to contact Apple Support should all else fail.

Please let us know if this helps get this resolved and any steps that were taken.

Thank you!

Mr_SMiT et al,

I am having the same problem, Siri still funtions for everyone else, just not my husband. Family share, do not share apple ID. Also since the last upgrade. I'm sure they'll get enough complaints and figure it out.

If the old fashioned way still works, that is wonderful, but the phone comes with Siri and she should work!!!! I happen to like voice text!! I have an apple phone compatible car and was looking forward to using it plus Siri to voice text. Smiley Sad

Hey Everybody!

Thank you for your replies! I greatly appreciate you letting us know that you are experiencing this issue!

Has anybody updated their phone to the recent software update? It looks like this was just released a few days ago for the iPhone 6. Hopefully this should fix any glitches or issues being experienced!

If you could just keep us updated, that would be fantastic! Thank you and have a wonderful day!
