Delay in voicemail delivery

I am running in to occurances in which voicemail messages from the previous days, sometimes up to 10 days, will not be delivered, and then they all show up at once.

I'm on a brand new iPhone 6s.  Have gone through the network reset routine, and it did not help.

What can I do to get voicemail delivered?

Hello @ tbick!

I am sorry to hear about the voicemail delay issue. I understand the importance of this service and I will be happy to help!

There are a few factors, which can cause delays in voicemail delivery. May I ask, do you receive good cellular connection when experiencing this issue? Keep in mind visual voicemail service requires a stable cellular data connection.

I appreciate you sharing the steps you have already tried. I will provide you additional troubleshooting steps to get your voicemail delivered in no time!

AT&T offers a wonderful Troubleshoot & Resolve tool, which provides guided steps to resolve problems with service and equipment. Please follow the link and make sure to select the Make/Model of your phone > under Service/Network issues section, click on Voicemail and complete the steps provided.

Please keep me posted and let me know if those steps worked for you!

Have a wonderful rest of the week and Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the reponse.

Cellular data connection is strong and consistent at my location, so that is not the cause.

Also, unfortunately the wonderful Troubleshoot & Resolve tool did not have a sugested path of actions that resulted in fixing the problem.

Hi again @tbick!

In most cases our Troubleshoot and Resolve tool has a good success rate, but your phone may need more advanced troubleshooting. I would love to help you out with this, if you could please send me a Private Message to @ATTMobilityCare. Within the message, please provide your full name, phone number, best time and method of contact.

I look forward to hearing from you!

I am having the same problem since my last IOS10 update, although that may be a coincidence.  My VMs take 24 hours to show on the phone - no notice, no message, everything shows up 24 hours later.  I get an immediate notice of the missed call but no notice that the caller also left a message.  There is no connection isse here.  I am in an urban area and it happens 100% of the time, started about a month ago.

Hello @Loreair,

I am sorry to hear you are having delayed voicemails. I will be happy to help!

Toggling Airplane Mode on and off in your phone’s settings can help to reset the connection to the towers. This way it forces the phone off the network and has to reacquire the signal.

Next, please check the data connection by ensuring Wi-Fi is off and trying out some internet related applications to see if they may be slow or not connecting. You can also go through our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool for any data issues you notice. Select your make/model > Service/Network issues > Internet.

Finally, if the voicemails continue to be delayed, then we will want to reset the phone. Apple has an article to help with backing up and resetting the device too.

Thank you for reaching out. Have a great day!
