S22 Ultra wifi connection drops (connected without internet)

Hi, I recently started having issues with my S22 Ultra dropping the wifi connection (connected without internet).  It will connect to the router for a few minutes, connection speed will be horrible, then it will drop wifi connection again, repeatedly. I have reset the network, reset router (though no other wifi devices are experiencing problems), powering off the phone, reboot in safe mode, tried a static IP, etc, all to no avail. Wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue. I've customized too much to do a factory reset (as a late resort. 5G works fine btw.

I have same problem S22 connects to network with internet for about 1 min. Then stays connected to the wireless network without an internet connection. Done everything you listed, even changed the MAC address form random to phone MAC nothing has worked. Used Samsung Smart Switch to transfer data to S22 Ultra maybe that corrupted something.

When I check the IP Address under the connect network settings, the IP address matches the IP address attached to the router.  However, I have noticed that when you go to Settings, About Phone, Status information, the IP address will change from the router assigned IP to 192.0.0.2 when the internet drops out and the phone stays connected to wireless network.

Have not done a factory reset for the same reasons. I hope someone can figure this out without a reset!!!

@Greenmtns I went to AT&T to get a replacement phone and my Wi-Fi worked fine in the store but they weren't running Wi-Fi 6 so I thought perhaps that had something to do with my issue.

I'm running a NightHawk RAX50 with Wi-Fi 6 support and "Smart Connect" enabled which automatically select 2.4 GHZ or 5 GHZ under one SSID.

I changed my router config to split both bands back out to two separate SSIDs and now the S22 Ultra work flawlessly under Wi-Fi 6 at 2.4 Ghz but still hit or miss when I manually switch to 5 Ghz. I've tried Wi-Fi 6 at 5 Ghz w/ and w/o OFDMA enabled and sometimes it works for a few hours but performance degrades and I have to switch back to Wi-Fi 6 over the  2.4 Ghz band

I'm going to open a support ticket with NetGear and see what they say, but it appears there's an S22 Ultra issue with Wifi6 over the 5 Ghz band.

@Captainturk Thanks for the info, good to know. However I am not running wifi 6. I have two S22 ultra's. One S22 connects to the network without internet issues. I have checked a ton of settings between the phone that connects without internet issues and the phone with the internet issue and have found nothing that has corrected the issue. I have even tried connecting to my Mobil hotspot with the same results.  Connects with internet and then changes to connected without internet shortly thereafter. So I am ruling out my Netgear router for now.

Did you use smart switch? I noticed that I had two Secure WIFI apps installed. I am wondering if the transfered apps are the culprit. I have also read that a factory reset has not corrected the issue for some people.

I have gone to the Samsung Members app and have submitted an error report. Waiting to see what Samsung has to say. I will keep looking into the issue and will post what corrects the problem.

@Greenmtns Yes, I used smart switch. Did you use it on both S22 Ultras or just the one having connection issues? I'm wondering if we just got 🍋 lemons too. AT&T said we have 2 weeks to return or exchange no questions ask, so if a factory reset isn't a viable, I might as well get the exchange for a new device. Will keep the forum posted as well.

@Captainturk Yes, I used smart switch on both phones. The one I am having trouble with is the S8+ transfer to the S22 ultra. I will wait and see how Samsung responds to my error report. Last resort I will reset the phone to factory. Then I will do the smart switch transfer after I know the issue has gone away.

Hi Greenmtns! We are here to help with your S22 Ultra internet connection!

If you haven't already, power cycle your device and reinsert your SIM Card to reset your device. We also recommend resetting your network settings to refresh your connection, go to Settings app>General management>Reset>Reset network settings. Update your device software to the latest version to ensure that your apps are running on the latest software version.

Disconnect your mobile hotspot on your S22 Ultra device as this is known to interfere with your internet connection. Lastly, check out our helpful troubleshoot & resolve tool to help fix your internet concerns. You'll need to navigate to Fix my wireless>Sign in to start.

We hope this helps! Reach back out to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

@ATTHelp I have done all those steps and more.

My router logs don't show anything, other than DoS attacks and some DHCP requests, nothing for the S22 Ultra and the internet connection remains stable.

Below are 3 screen shots with wifi debugging enabled, note the wifi doesn't drop per se, just the internet connectivity and throughout degrades.

I've noticed that the closer I am to my AP, the less issues I experience. Is there a 5 Ghz Wi-Fi 6 reception issue with the S22u? Do some of use just have faulty devices?
Please get some S22u in your lab and run some tests, there are lots of users having this issue and the standard reboot isn't going to correct it.

@Captainturk Another thing I tried was removing the SIM card and restart the phone which did not correct the WiFi (connected without internet) issue. After exhausting all options, I ended up factory resetting and updated the phone. However that did not correct the WiFi issue.

Called Samsung tech support without resolve. Tech support suggested everything I have already done. It must be a hardware issue with the phone since I am not having any WiFi connection issues with the other S22 Ultra or other devices.

So I am sending the defective S22 Ultra phone back for refund and purchasing a replacement. Luckily I have the old phone since the replacement will not be here until the end of the month.

@Greenmtns I've been up on the new S22 Ultra for 3 days, unfortunately still having the same issue with Wi-Fi 6 over then 5 Ghz band.

One test I did that seems to verify that the S22 Ultra may have problem with distance from the AP was restoring my 15GB secure folder. When the S22 Ultra is a foot away, it worked without timeouts and no degradation. At 35 feet and 2 walls away I was never able to restore the secure folder due to timeouts.

If this is an antenna issue, we're in trouble. If it's firmware, hope Samsung is actively working on a fix.

Clearly with all the different issues users are experiencing, whatever interoperability or regression testing Sammy is doing isn't enough 🤔 I'd be curious what issues or lack thereof Wi-Fi 6e users are seeing at the 6 GHz band.

Looks like the April update S908USQU1AVCJ I just installed corrected my issue for now. Will have to run a few days to be sure.
