Device Unlock

Just purchased Microsoft surface duo from ebay, it seems that it is locked to att service. I am outside of US, so I can not contact the support without an account. As you know device unlock request page is not working, it says to try again in 24 hours but each time same thing happens after 24 hours. IMEI is clean. When I put in other sim than att, it requires the code which I can not get because of the reason I mentioned before. Could anyone from Att help me out?

First you need to understand that AT&T is not going to help you out. The most they will do is give you the usual lip service, and maybe even recommend that you return the device or have whoever sold it to you process the unlock for you, assuming they are or were an AT&T customer, and produce a proof of purchase receipt

But cross your fingers, and try using a US VPN to access the portal and process your unlock request as a non-customer. Make sure you are filling in the little circle that says no I do not have an AT&T phone number.

Hi @Mirianashvili11,

The Community Forums are a public support option where other users, and AT&T, will try and assist with high level support needs. This means we won’t be able to look into account specific concerns.  To get the help you need for your unique issue, please review our Contact Us page: http://sm.att.com/c1e7423d/, and choose the best option to reach out to us.  You can call, chat, or reach out via social media and we can review your specific issue and provide you support.  If you feel your issue isn’t account specific, and can be answered generally, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you for posting on the AT&T Community Forums!

(sigh). If the original poster uses the contact us information to try to get a hold of AT&T the first thing they will be asked is what is their AT&T phone number, which they don't have.

I miss the days when AT&T help would come on here and tell people that if they're not an AT&T customer and bought a used phone that they need to ask the person that sold it to him to unlock it for them. That was a correct answer
