How to turn off international direct dialing?
I see directions in a forum but I am not able to navigate to what they're pointing to. Is there a way to turn off international direct dialing for a US based Mobile phone? I want to be able to restrict outgoing calls to within the US only.
Thank you,
Namita

Hello nkdabas, we're here to help you block outgoing international calls.
Here’s how stop outgoing calls to international numbers:
Don’t worry. International blocking only blocks outgoing calls. When it’s turned on, you’ll still get incoming calls from friends and family abroad.
Let us know if this helps.

If your plan is wireless mobile phone, there is the option to turn international calling off on each mobile phone line.
Unfortunately, it's been a while, and the menu may have changed.
Under each device, the option to add or remove roaming plan, travel pay per use, and international calling options is listed. The $0 international pay per use calling feature is checked by default - enabling long distance calls. Removing the check, removes the long distance calling from the line.

Let's clarify the settings for blocking international calls, nkdabas!
As our ACE mentioned, your settings may very due to updates. Follow the step that @formerlyknownas shared and let us know if you're able to find the settings and disable long distance calls. Also, look for similar settings.
Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Hello, Please provide the new navigation to block the international outgoing calls. I was told by customer care that my outgoing international calls are blocked but it is not really blocked and I'm getting charged for accidental calls made to international numbers.
It is really frustrating.

I have this same problem. I've been struggling all morning trying to figure out how to switch off the ability to have international calls on my AT&T cellphone after a 2nd month of getting a massive bill due to my mother making mistakes and calling overseas. I need to cut this off but the AT&T site has no information about how to do this. And as usual, it's next to impossible to get a live-human-being on the phone and the robots don't answer the questions. Everything I find relates to how-to instructions for home-phone/land lines and nothing about cell phones. It's incredibly frustrating and I am starting to think about just rolling the number over to a provider who I am more familiar with that I know how to block international calling on.

I don't know if the ability to block international calling has changed in the four years since I switched service providers.
For gosh sakes add the $15 long-distance plan to your mother's line.
Another option is to switch her to prepaid. Prepaid customers cannot use roaming or long distance unless it's been paid for and selected in advance.

Geez, sorry for not being an expert on AT&T pricing schedules and additional products. In my experience from other providers it was simple to block this. If those are the only options then I'll have to decide between those.

@BBendriss
So you're going to get offended because people make suggestions "for gosh sakes" , so that you don't have a "massive bill" again?
Why not say, 'I didn't know that was an option?, or how does that even work?'.
They totally do. As a former AT&t and current Verizon customer I can tell you that AT&t's website is extremely searchable. Definitely one of the things I miss about AT&t. Just Google 'at&t International long distance calling'.
