AT&T Smart Limits

This evening I learned that Smart Limits does not restrict inbound calls.  My son has an iPhone and Smart Limits does not restrict his ability to connect to a wireless network.  Sadly, his school has an unsecured wireless network that I have complained about numerous time.

While connected to a wireless network, he is able to send iMessages as well as browse the internet.  Does anyone know of a good alternative to Smart Limits?  Notably, I am also using Norton Family to control the content that he is able to browse online.

I have attempted blocking numbers that call him during the school day, however this becomes a very manual process blocking and unblocking numbers.  I have considered locking his iPhone, but there is two problems 1.  if here is ever an emergency situation at school, he will not be able to contact me 2. we have a security code/pin on the phone in the event it is lost or stolen.  Thereby, if the phone is locked via iCloud, considering he has the PIN, he can override the lock.

Hi @j.holmes,

Welcome to the Community Forums and thank you for bringing this question to us! I understand the need to protect our kids from accessing unrestricted internet connections.  I would love to provide help.

I see you stated you have Smart Limits, yes with this App Wi-Fi can still be used when time restrictions are in place.

I would recommend contacting Apple support through this link here to see if they have other options or 3rd party Apps they recommend in order to block access to Wi-Fi.

Also, I was able to locate a great article from Apple here on Use parental controls on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.  This may be of assistance on what restrictions are allowed and how to enable them on the device.

I hope this was of help! Have a great rest of your day!
