Lost Access to Max without Account Changes

After the HBO max migration to MAX, I lost access to my Max subscription. I have/had At&T Unlimited Elite, which had Max included, but after the migration, it became difficult to sign in and particularly after it required a direct login (rather than provider login), I lost almost all access. 

Now when I login, Max says that I do not have a subscription. And when I check my at&t wireless page, my max subscription is no longer visible. I did not make any changes to my at&t wireless account. Please let me know how I can get access back to Max.

Following up that I was able to login to Max through a very annoying process:

Login by Subscriber - No account found - Login by Subscriber again - Create account - put my account info into create account - Find connected account and email sent for verification - enter email verification

There has to be a simpler, more reliable process than this.
