Sometimes the power adapter goes bad so try a different power adapter. That's what possibly happened to the other one that doesn't turn on, try a different power adapter and let us know if that helps.

Power surge could have fried the power adapter or gateway when the power came back on. It's a common thing, at&t might need to replace it if it's a leased gateway.

Those modems still work with ADSL internet. I have one in use with a different provider. You could put it on ebay or amazon for cheap just so someone can have some use of it if its in good condition still.

what model number of wifi router do you have? You could try changing the wireless channel and see if that helps. Otherwise maybe you need to replace that router.

If you're on legacy DSL you can use many different modems that are ppoe compatible. If you're on Uverse DSL you can't use third party modems that aren't Uverse branded. For legacy DSL all you have to do is configure the modem and use your at&t account and password set on the modem and you're good to go. Let us know if you need more help.

You could try changing the security of your password to wpa-tkip instead of wpa2. See if that helps.

I sometimes have that issue, what I do to get things working again is go to the network connections folder and I disable the wireless card on the laptop and then I wait a minute or so and I enable it again which fixes that issue for me. Give it a try next time.

What gateway model are you using? Did you try power cycle or a hard reset? (hard reset: pressing the reset buttong for 30 seconds) and then it will be back to factory default to see if it solves it?

Depends if you have AT&T dsl or AT&T Uverse DSL. If you have AT& T Dsl you can buy a third party router modem combo. Which DSL do you have out of the two?
