Good point, I used the wrong term. It's less expensive is what I meant, there is no tax or E911 fees. On top of that the refills are discounted, in general they run $54/mo (total) if you pull their discount codes off twitter. $57 is the regular price. A minute on the web saves you about $6.70 + the tax you aren't paying, every month. Not bad IMO when the only reason peopl...

If you use CallingMart or Secrest Wireless to refill the account you don't get hit with these fees. It makes refilling much simpler IMO.

This isn't exactly true, using the store locator and the terms mentioned there: http://www.att.com/maps/store-locator.html Be aware that if you go to an AT&T store that is an AT&T Authorized Retailer you will have to pay for the GoPhone SIM there. If you go to an actual A T&T Company Store then the SIM you will get for free when signing up for GoPhone. I wish I knew the d...

Yes, I did that with my 3GS back when they first released the smart phone data packages.

The URL appears to be invalid and it also appears to be old information. Smart phones including the iPhone are now allowed on AT&T's go phone but you will have to purchase go phone data and after the last round of changes you'll have to be on the $50 or $25 a month plan plus data costs.

The iPhone will work as long as it's unlocked. You also have to load a data APN somehow to get data. As I understand it even you with a foreign iphone are going to be able to pull down the AT&T carrier profile. Which unfortunately is not going to be correct for go phone, and then it further complicates the issue by hiding that particular menu. If you want MMS to work that...

[quote]I never received the text message from AT&T regarding the change in data plans either. I found out about it by logging into my account on their website to check my data expiration date, and noticed the little yellow triangle and exclamation mark next to data package amounts. At first I was happy to see that they'd doubled the amount of data for the same price, and t...

Supposedly the SIMs are locked to the phone for the first six months. After that you might be able to swap them. Regardless if you explain your situation at the desk they can probably help you in store.

This link used to go to an account management page where you could sign in and perform actions on your iPad account. http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/ipad.jsp It doesn't seem to do that now but you can try logging in on that page and see if that works for you. Otherwise I think you're going to have to call them.

I know AT&T won't give a refund on leftover account balance but can I do anything else with it like transfer it to another phone?

No, you dont have to buy a phone. Just let them know you want to use your phone and they will either sell you or give you a SIM.

"If I could buy a SIM and a 500MB data plan prepaid and just pay it in the store, that would be awesome. But is this possible?" Yes it is possible. You need to ask about the gophone smartphome plans. The biggest one is 500MB for $25 but it can be set it up for auto renew so you can use as much data as you need, just every 500MB is $25. The voice portion for those smartpho...
