My internet performance has gone to almost nothing in the last day or two. I have no idea what's going on. I just logged in here for the first time in months and see I got some sort of big promotion. Thanks for that. I guess if the internet doesn't straighten out by tomorrow, I'll have to get back in here and ask for some help.

If you had a conventional tv setup you would have a Residential Gateway (RG) that includes the modem and router. That is what the $6 rental fee covers. In your case, I would guess the iNid, but I don't know.

I have an Onkyo receiver with 7.1 feeding 7 Bose double cubes. I pieced this together so it has 3 Bose Accoustimas modules and a Klipse subwoofer. I used HDMI from the DVR to the tv and optical from the DVR to the receiver. I have HDMI from the receiver to tv. I also have a blu-ray DVD with HDMI to the receiver. I have a Roku with HDMI to the receiver. This way, I can wat...

So, are you able to get into your "new" U-Verse @att.net email account with all of your computers, new and old?

BUT, after you are logged into the AT&T user account page, you should be able to click on a link to your email WITHOUT needing an email account name and password. What happens when you do that? ALSO, you should have gotten a new AT&T Yahoo email account when you established your U-Verse account. You aren't trying to get into some old account before you got U-Verse are you...

Can you log into your AT&T U-Verse account and see your bills and profile and all that stuff? Is there a button there to press for email? What happens when you click on it?

I really don't understand what's going on. When I log into the AT&T site, I have to use my AT&T user id and password to get in. That is my AT&T email address. Once I long into the AT&T site, I just click on email. I don't have to enter my user name or password at that point.

If you're considering switching to Comcast, you obviously don't need your AT&T email account. Use your gmail and move on. It's a non-issue.

The U-Verse RG is a modem and router combined into one unit. You will also get a DVR for one tv and a STB (set-top-box) for each additional tv. The single DVR will provide whole-house DVR to all of your connected tv's. I recently switched from Charter tv and internet to U-Verse because my Charter internet became unreliable. I've been with U-Verse since 6/30 and have had z...

Basically, yes. Plug your router into your RG using lan port to lan port. Don't use wan port. Disable your router's DHCP. Change router's IP address to 192.168.1.10. Disable RG's wireless signal. Connect your wireless devices to your router.

...but to try and answer your first question, I am not familiar with the internal programming of the RG you are asking about. However, it is a very very simple process to add a router behind the RG as an access point. I added my CradlePoint N router and use it for all my wireless connections. First, log onto your router and turn off DHCP on your router. Then, change the s...

Where do all these ethernet jacks originate? Move your RG to that location and plug them into the lan ports on the RG. If there are not enough ports, connect a secondary router to the RG and set it up as an access point and plug some of them into it.

I plugged my CradlePoint router back in this morning and disabled the RG wireless signal. Wireless speeds are back up to near normal levels. I guess I'll see if it can hold these speeds or drops off again later today or tonight. There is one change I made that could have had something to do with it. Yesterday, I unplugged my 2 Roku's from the STB and DVR and connected the...

Well, I'm back to the HDMI cable and manually switching between stereo and surround sound. The component cables were great until I split the signal between my tv and Slingbox and the picture was unacceptable. I'm not willing to switch my Slingbox to S-video, so I guess I'll just stick with this for now.

IP addresses were OK as was. I also disabled wireless signal from the U-Verse RG. Everything seems to be working great. I have all my wired devices connected to the RG and all my wireless d...
