gobraves, Don't waste your time with the front line CSRs. Call 611 from your phone then use option 5 Account Info then option 5 Cancel your service. That should get you to someone that knows what is going on. I doubled my 10GB data yesterday with no problem. The double offer is supposed to be good until 10/31/2014. Good luck.

Don't give up on AT&T yet. Just beat them at their own game. If your family doesn't use the 10GB data each month. Add some more family. Not free loaders like your kids but paying family like your brother's or sister's family. That is what I did and it is working out quite well. We each pay $50 each toward the 10GB data plan and $15 for each phone. $110 for my four phone f...

Only other option would have been to wait until the unlocked sim free iPhone is made available by Apple and buy one of those. You would have to pay the full amount all at once rather than monthly like with the NEXT plan. And of course AT&T would have dinged you $40 for activation fee.

Where have you folks been? AT&T and Verizon have been charging this activation fee for years. Started out at about $20 and has climbed to $40. Good luck finding a telco in USA that doesn't charge one.

You don't say what phone you are packing now, but if it isn't a smartphone you will also have to add a data plan and maybe a text plan. But there will definately be a $40 activation fee on top of the subsidized price of the iPhone.

As I understand the NEXT program, after you have make all the payments (20 or 24 depending which plan you sign up for) the phone is yours. It will still be locked to AT&T until you request it be unlocked. If you want an unlocked iPhone, you will have to wait until Apple makes those available.

What do you have against NEXT? Pre-ordering a NEXT plan iPhone thru Apple will not trigger an increase in your AT&T mobile plan cost. If you buy a full price iPhone, you will get charged a $36.00 activation fee by AT&T, which they waive if you go the NEXT route.

Don't go into a store. Chances are you will just get lied to by [Please keep it courteous] and told you all have to buy new phones and commit to a new service plan. Which is wrong!! Get together with your friend or his wife, who ever is the main person on their AT&T account. Then call AT&T. Try and get ahold of someone that know how the transfer service works. You will bo...

Maybe you should prove to yourself that you can cut back the data usage for your four phones to below 10GB per month before you switch plans. The $160 plan only includes 10GB shared between the four phones. You can add another 5GB of shared data for $30 per month. And once you commit, you will never be able to return to the unlimited data plans. Also be aware that any pho...

The phone that has a contract will still be under contract when switched to MSV plan. AT&T is making an exception for users that upgraded prior to the new plans announcement, allowing them to switch to the new plan at $15 per month, even with the contract (Contracts remain on those lines). After this initial change, if a user upgrades with another 2 year contract, the pri...

" If you signed a two year agreement prior to Feb 1 2014 , are under no contract, or sign the next installment plan you qualify for the $15 price . If you sign a two year agreement after Feb 1 2014, you will pay the $40 until the two year agreement is up, at which point it will revert to the $15 line pricing" Are you abolutely sure of this. That is what I was told by thre...
