I want to move my modem/Gateway

I want to move my modem so that I can have better wireless coverage in the living room where we spend most of the time. I've got the phone jack wired  and hooked up the coax to the coax going to the room I want, but the modem won't connect. I have the 2wire 3800hgv-b. from what I've read and logic there has got to be a three way some where in my attic.  All I can find is the in from the outside and the one going to the modem currently.  Those 2 were coupled together.  so I uncoupled them and hooked the in the room where I want to relocate the modem.  Any ideas on how they have the tv hooked in to get signal from the modem now? or where the three way is?
