WHY is data streaming at three hour intervals on Iphone 4s?????? AT&T offers not help!!!!!!!!!

Good luck screaming to AT&T. I have been doing do for three days. Recently upgraded a 4s iphone to system 7.1.2. Now data is streaming every day at three hour intervals. AT&T usage looks like this. (see below) I have made sure no apps running, even deleted Icloud account as one AT&T Rep told me this was the problem. Checked all setting nothing is on automatic backup. AT&T says solution is to turn data off and it is not their problem. THIS IS CRAZY!!!!!!!!

Go to the bottom of the page where your data sumary is shown. Do you see a comment down there that for Mobile Share accounts, that data may be sumarized into 3 hour intervals? For some data use on Mobile SHare accounts, the usage is summarized and reported in 3 hour increments rather than in real time. I suspect that this is what you are seeing now.

I saw that comment on my detail usage screen, I just don't rememebr if it was through the OLAM web site, or if it was through the myATT app on my iPhone. You will probably see that same comment if you look at all the information presented on the screen as well, and not just the raw numbers.

Yes it says that on the bill and this is new. Used to show actual data and time.

And still this is not possible as usage is being show while phone is NOT being used. Another way for AT&T to rip us off!!!!!!

Smart phones are constantly consuming data, and depending on the device the wifi can turn off to conserve battery life and function. YOu may be being impacted by this.

Also, the data reporting is on a "session" basis. So for instance, if you stream a movie from 7 pm until 9:30 pm, none o that usage will be calculated until the 12 am remport, even though some of it occured before 9 pm, as the data cannot be calculated until the connection is done. You can gaurentee that a session is ended at exactly the time you are done using the application by ensuring that they do not continue to run in the background and by turning your phone off and back on when entering a wifi area and before bed to ensure that if the wifi turns off to conserve the battery that you don't have accidental usage.

How come that never showed when I had unlimited data and only shows now that I switched my plan to a 2g plan?

You haven't provided any usage reports from before your switch for us to see that it wasn't here before.  Perhaps it was there, but among all the details, you were overlooking it because you had unlimited data, so the details didn't matter as much to you...  I also imagine that there is a very good chance that you have gotten a new phone recently, and everyone uses their new phones more than their old phone, at least at first, not to mention that a new phone comes with a new mobile OS, and new apps, all of which could contribute to increased data uasge.

I purchased an iPhone 6 and switched from unlimited data to a plan with 2g.  I am not using the phone anymore so than normal.  This is my 3rd iPhone so I'm kind of over the bells and whistles.  I just needed to upgrade my phone.

FIrst off, you switched devices, you had an older iPhone (most likely with an older version of iOS) so there are at least hardware differences, and probably software differences.  Many iOS apps were updated with new releases to add features supported by iOS 8, so it cold be app updates are causing you to use more data (both in updating the apps, and in the new versions just using more data).  All of this means that many things changed, even though you say "nothing changed".

Next, I tried looking at your detailed usage, and to me it sure looks like your useage is about the same both before and after, but it is hard to tell, since your "previous" usage is just raw numbers with no scale.  Some of those entries could have been in KB, or MB, but without knowing, it is impossible for us to compare. The only thing I see that looks anomolous to me is that on 10/21 you show a 231MB usage where most of your other incremetns show usages more in the 20MB range, so for that one interval, you used 10x your "normal usage".  There are so many possibilities to explain that (like the iOS 8.1 update that was released on Monday) that I wouldn't consider it to be that anomolous, just out of pattern with your usage pattern in the other intervals you show.

As stated before, just because you're not using the phone more than you did the ollder phones, doesn't mean that your phone isn'e using more data that the older one did.  I'm seeing data usage on teh same orders of magnitude  for both before and after the switch (on 10/03 you used about 66MB od data, and on 10/22 you used about 59MB of data).  Like I said, the only one thing that looks much higher than normal is that one large usage that happened shortly after Apple released iOS 8.1.  My iPhone 6 auotmatically downloaded it to the phone on Monday, so that when I wanted to install it on Tuesday morning, it was already downloaded.  I wouldn't be surpried if you found that your larger usage on 10/21 your your iPhone doing the same thing.  SInce your previous usages shows Thurs-Fri-Sat, and your new usage shows Mon-Tues-Wed, there is no overlap, so it's hard to see any patterns, but the numbers looks to be in the same order of magnitude with usage in the 50-60MB per day ranges.
