How to Activate Service on a New Device

I had an iPhone 5S and a iPhone 4 before that). I just got thr iPhone 6, but for some reason, even thoguh I shut down my iPhone 5S fully before turning on and backing up from iCloud my new iPhone 6..... the new iPhone 6 is not 'registering" my phone number?

It just shows "No Service" in upper left corner.

Ideas?!?!

Hello Community,

There are a few different ways to activate your phone, and it depends on what people are referring to when they say "activating".  If this is simply a replacement device, you may just need to update your IMEI and SIM number.

You can find all the details on our Activation Support page.

Or, you can also follow these steps:

  1. Go to att.com/activations.
  2. Select your Activate Your AT&T Wireless Phone.
  3. Enter the Wireless number and Billing or shipping ZIP code of the phone you're activating.
  4. Select Continue, confirm the IMEI and ICCID/SIM numbers, and follow the prompts and instructions to complete your device activation.

Please ask a new question if you are still in need of assistance.

I received my pre-ordered iPhone 6.  Went online and filled out the activation form...  Saw the note that says    "We are experiencing high demand and you may encounter a delay in the activation of your phone. Once you click submit, no additional action is required on your part. We will complete your activation as quickly as possible."

I've been waiting over 3 hours now...  anyone elses taking that long?   When I go back to the same page and enter my info, it says "Device activation pending"

As happens every time, the servers get overloaded because everyone in the country is trying to activate their new phone right now. Nothing to do but wait. Unfortunately the seem to deactivate your old SIM immediately, so you have no phone until the new activation goes through.

I already went to iPhone activation guide, but it said "The number you entered is already activated. If this is the number you intended to activate, you're all set. (ACT005)
Number Entered: *****
Activating an insurance replacement phone? Log in to activate
If you need more help, or your new phone is not working within the hour, please call us at 800.331.0500."

I get the same thing:
