Seeking help with the bill adjustment.Wrong information about the promotion for new accounts. Had to cancel the account with in a week.

I was tricked by ATT sales representative with some fake promotions for opening a new account. I was told clearly about the monthly bill I would receive based on all the promotions they promised to add to my new account. However, when I got the bill nothing was applied. After calling to customer service, I was told none of the promotions will be applied to my account due to some restrictions and terms. I was even told that the bills are prorated and if I cancel, I will get refund for the days, I haven't used the service. I decided to cancel the account because of the promotions not being applied to my account and the bill was way more than I was told.

After cancelling, I called to ask for the adjustment in the bill and I was told then, I will have to pay for the whole month no matter when I cancel the account. This is complete fraud and misinformation given by the ATT customer service. I have called for more than 20 hours in last 1 week and haven't got any help with the billing department. They have been just laughing and making fun over the phone. This is taking a toll on my mental health.

Thanks for the response. I had filed a complain to FCC and was contacted by some from Office of the President. They were able to address my issue. Thanks everyone for the help.

This is taking a toll on my mental health.

To be frank, I think it's time to move on. You've found a provider you like better and you've wasted a lot of time fighting a bill that was likely correct.

Final bills are not prorated, as disclosed in the terms. Someone mistakenly telling you something different doesn't matter.

Promotions don't take affect for the first 3 bills, so they still might have been coming. At this point, though, that's moot.

If you'd like to continue regardless of your mental health. File a complaint with the BBB and someone from the office of the president will contact you. They might be willing and able to provide bill credits. Since you've already canceled, you've given up the leverage you'd have, so there's no promises, especially if everything was correct per the actual advertised pricing and promotions.

@MicCheck The problem is, I have been told that the promotions will not be applied. However, I asked for the credit so that I can use it for a while and that was also not an option for me. I had no options than cancelling the service. I don't think its fair to bill for the whole month (despite it's in the terms and I was told incorrectly by customer service) when they quoted some amount before I joined them. I cancelled it because, they left no options for me and the cancellation was done because they gave the wrong information at the very first time.

The only thing I got was "Sorry" on behalf of the one who sold the plan to me with fake promotions.
