Switch from post paid to prepaid. Against AT&T policy?

I would like to switch my 2 post paid lines to the new $30, 5 GB prepaid plan. I have heard that this is a policy violation and will not be allowed. Is this true?

No, that is not true. You can switch from postpaid to prepaid, but you must do it in a corporate store. Now if you were trying to switch to a prepaid plan that required a new activation such as the 12 month plan for $300, you would not be able to keep your numbers because moving a number from ATT postpaid to ATT prepaid is not a new activation. The $30 5GB plan does not require a new activation, you can keep your numbers.

I was told by a local corporate store here in Ohio that he could not do it. I would have to call to do it..
